Didn't think it fit in the regular rifle forum so decided to ask here.
Have a new one and was thinking about scoping it as the old eyes
ain't as good as they used to be.
Does anyone have one?
I so do you have a scope on it?
What kind and what scope mounts?

Is it even a good idea to scope it?

All I can say is check with an air gun store for a mount.
Benjamin used to make one for there rifles. Not sure if they still do. (Crossman now)

As for scopes, you'll want one that has adjustable paralax, or objective that focuses in close.

I'm sure you already know that though.

I would’nt use the Air Venturi mounts that mount to the reciever as they can cut into the solder joints over time and cause bbl. , reciever separation.

Mac1 Airguns has a bbl. mount that fits the current Benjl’s and one for the older rifles too.
You can slide it up to the reciever for normal scope mounting, or slide it down the bbl. for scout style, or pistol scope mounting.
It does’nt contact the solder joints at all!

Baker Airguns sells a reciever base that is said not to contact the solder joints either, but is made only for conventional scope mounting over the reciever.

The Mac 1 base is $55.00 and I believe the Baker is $70.00.
The Baker mounts to the reciever with 2 smallish screws in the top of the base, and the Mac 1 attaches with 2 massive side screws.
I have both and prefer the Mac 1 base. The Baker mount I have came with a used rifle.
The Mac 1 is more versatile, stronger, and cheaper to boot imho.

Hope this helps.

Forgot to add, with the Mac 1 base and a pistol scope, you can pump the rifle in the normal 2 handed fashion.

I have a pistol scope (2x7x32 utg) mounted on my 397 and a 3x9x32 utg tf2 scope mounted over the reciever on my 392 steroid.
I pump it by putting the toe of the stock on my foot, slide my fingers under the scope and on top of the base and pump away with my off hand.
Both rifles have the Mac 1 base on them.

35 Shooter,
Several times I have read that the Mac 1 base squeezes the barrel
enough to restrict the barrel.
Have you ever heard of this?

rodmkr,

I have had my Mac 1 bases on and off several times and moved forward or backward on the bbl. shroud, and have seen no evidence of marring, nor indentations in the brass shroud itself is all I can say about that.
Accuracy is top notch with both the Baker and Mac 1 bases.

The Baker base tightens from the top, which could concievably put upward pull on the reciever joints, but i have’nt heard of any problems from them.
I doubt if the pressure is much, if any.

Thinking of Air Rifles; they might be a safe haven in a Biden Adm. Think about it; no FFL crap to buy and sell (at least yet); avoid the obvious tax to be implemented of Firearms; and PCP's that will impart over 150 FPE on target. I'm seriously looking into a .357 cal. PCP for taking food after the next Great Depression. Loaded with cast slugs these are quite formidable.

CW, that’s true... they cannot stress the solder joints.
I think rodmkr may have meant squeezing the bbl. from the sides enough to constrict the bore.
I don’t believe the Mac 1 base could do that either, as the screws sit a bit above the base clamps.
Tim told me to tighten them as tight as I could, which I did.
It holds on like a vise, but leaves no marks nor dents in the bbl. shroud... no way it’s pinching the inner bbl.!

Wow,
Went looking for 22 cal 14.3 grain pellets this morning.
Seems they are as scarce as regular bullets.
All of my normal outlets are out of stock no backorder.
Anyone got a good source for pellets 22 cal most any weight?

Pyramid Air has some H&N and JSB pellets in stock. 14.3 gr. are among those. They’re out of most crosman pellets right now

I ordered a NOE pellet mold because of the shortage on pellets lately.
It’s a 20 gr. Mold for my 392 steroid.
I’m putting it through it’s last break in heat cycle before use as I post this.

35 Shooter,
Ordered the RWS 14.5 grain pellets.
Any feelings good or bad about them?

If ya gotta shot into the dark and pick a pellet Buy a JSB.

Other than that just like a real firearm the gun decides what it likes.

RWS is a good brand... as to whether they shoot in your rifle or not, you’ll just have to try them out.

As CW said, JSB usually shoot very well in most rifles.
I got lucky with my last 392 in that it shot 6 out of 7 different pellets I had on hand, including crosman domes and piranah’s.
My older 392 is very pellet picky and so far i’ve Only found one pellet it will shoot... Gamo pointed Magnums lol. It drives a nail with them though.

Maybe you’ll get lucky and it will shoot the pellets you bought for it.
I’ll be glad when this Covid induced shortage is over.
Let us know how they work out for you... i’m betting they’ll shoot for you!

Well another reason not to buy online.
Bought pellets from Patymid air and have received 10 unwanted
e-mails about products or services I neither want or need.
Tried to buy a Mac1 scope base from Mac1.
Will not let me buy unless I sign up and become a member and receive
unwanted e-mails from them.
Guess I will just keep using open sights as have no intentions of being
a member and receiving unwanted e- mails trying to sell me something I do not want.
