Black PC and dry tumble

Those look fantastic Walter, almost have me talked into it. It's a textured paint like Hammerite isnt it?

Here's what the 80% gloss poly tgic looks like, much easier to get good coverage than the mattes.

The paint is super smooth. Not a textured paint. I can send you some.

That silver-black looks good and the coverage looks really good, too.
What is the source and proper name of that stuff?

Epoxy-polyester blend. Not too expensive. I am guessing a lb will coat a LOT of bullets.
I ordered a pound, the shipping eats you alive on the little stuff.

Have you measured to find how much the black adds to the dia.?
What does Eastwood add for shipping?

$13.99 for a lb of powder and 9.97 for shipping. Brings the lb of powder up to $24.
A bit steep, but will probably coat a heck of a lot of bullets. I suspect that getting more would
not have as proportionate shipping. Tiny orders aren't very efficient, cost wise.

Bill, a pound of powder paint will coat about 10-12,000 200-grain bullets via the closed-container shake/swirl method. A $5 stick of lube will lube about 700, so basically PC is about 1/3 the cost of bought lube.

Walter, thank you for the offer but I'm going to put in an Eastwood order through work (we need some other things anyway) so I'll pick some up along with another color or two.

I think I like the silver popping vein powder better as far as coverage goes. Looks cool as well. IMO. View attachment 9767

I like the color, just ordered some, I've culled out a few colors that I didn't really care for but you don't know till you try them so I just buy the 8 oz. bottles from Eastwood or the three 1/3rd pound bags for the price of 1 lb. from Smokes over on Cast Boolits. The Silver Vein should look great in my nickel plated pistol brass.

Would that silver popping Epoxy polyester be less danger health wise from the fumes?

Don't know, I do all my powder coating in front of a small window in the shop with a box fan running that exhaust to the outside. I run my dry tumble over there as well. If I had a casting pot at home it would be there as well.

Lone Ranger doesn't like them 'dirty' bullets. Bill, if you look at those black shiny, you see what I mean about not flowing real good. Shoot fine from rifle. Woulda posted a pic but don't have any left.

Little girls have a way of making you get over hangups like that. One of my friends from late childhood has three daughters. He's a roughneck, true Alpha male type but always been easygoing, honest, and really doesn't give a damn what his peers think of him. I've seen him numerous times over the years with his nails painted all kinds of weird colors or with pattern stickers on them, turns out on of his favorite daddy-daughter things to do is take his girls to the nail salon and since he's quite a bit ADD, he gets his done too for entertainment. He's always reminded me that most people take themselves far too seriously.

But, if you just don't like vivid colors on your bullets, you got all the options in the world. I think the world-standard pallet numbers in the thousands.

I can see that painted nails thing for sure, something fun to do with his daughter. If my grandnieces wanted to do that, I'd probably put up with it. Probably. Grin.
I still don't want pink or baby blue or lime green bullets.

How about clear coated ones as a compromise?

I think, that if I do much of this ,clear may be good. That black and silver is pretty cool, though.

I’m gonna give Brad’s load a try. 4.8gr of Redot. I know he is using Promo but it loads the same by weight. Mine are sized to .452”
Brad sent me some of his Bullets sized to .451”
I’ll try both and see if my Kimber likes the .451” better like has worked for others. E82D0F02-6BF5-4A89-B0CF-EB3A9BF86F35.jpeg

It only needs to be as complicated as it needs to be. Airsoft bbs significantly reduce the bases getting chewed up and allow you to thrash the bullets very hard in the container without ruining them...which helps a lot on humid days when the powder doesn't want to play nice.
I have some black airsoft BB's but I've found that Pony Beads work just as well and are much cheaper usually around $1 a pack.
