Bottom pour pot drippings

I thought about doing shot for a while ......I only have 7-800# .
Read up on what some of the guys were doing .
There used to be a shot tower at Mound House just outside Carson City and just outside of the Moonlight Bunny Ranch Business park . Extreme I think was the last owner . It was every inch of 150' , I think whatever it was it was just under the tower light requirements as I don't remember ever seeing a beacon on it .

Gunarea's idea but I think it helped at least a bit. Just stuck it in a hole in the bench and gently bent it. Might take a time or two.

I was looking into shot makers just out of curiosity when my son was shooting sporting clays. If I remember right, they were dropping the shot into oil and only a few feet. Never did get one, bought lots of 25lb bags instead.

Never thought about doing it under my lead pot. It’s a Lee and would certainly make a lot of shot... I think I’d use a bucket of water to catch it. It’d be interesting to see what size it turned out to be.

Ok, I'll bite....?
What the heck is swan shot ?
I’ll admit, I didn’t know either... My search showed “shot used for water fowl” or something to that effect. :) I knew it had to be a lot larger than the 7.5 or 8 I mostly shoot based on the size of the drips.

Teardrop shaped shot (a frozen drip shape) is called swan shot. Too little fall distance, not rolling as it hits the quench, and alloy factors cause it.

Swan Shot ...
Guess that only seen if you're making your own.
I figure since I've never seen or even heard of of before now; that it's not something that's too common.
Shot registered trap for a number of years, only bought the good stuff.
Still I'd like to see some.

I also lapped the valve rod with some valve grind paste, and if needs be the ingot mould underneath. I also empty the pot each time I use it and cast up a heap of ingots from my RCBS ingot mould that helps when I want to reseat the rod. I have also raised my pot so I can caste Minnie bullets with it.
