Brass catcher?

Wondering if any of you use a Brass Catcher for your Auto pistol brass when you are shooting at the range?
I like to make something up ( since I'm shooting my pistols more).
I was looking at a guy that shoots on the pistol range where I shoot ...and he has a very elaborate Catcher made out of adjustable Bass pipe fittings!
Way to over engineered for casual shooting.
Just looking for some simple ideas that work.
Years ago I pistol range only had table ( that the shooters donated) A plain cardboard box used to work great! But now we have covered shooting ares with only small shelves to shoot from so something is need to a fix the catcher to the 6" wood shelf!

I use a large mesh laundry bag (scored one that had a missing drawstring from the uniform guy at work). Took a piece of 10-gauge galvanized horse wire and made a hoop out of it to keep the bag open.

My XD tossed them pretty high but thinking I've got a short handled trout net I might try. Wire could be bent to a 'foot' at the bottom and a wood workers scissor spring clamp. For our range and my pistol, hang the net from the top. They have screen and collector channel but I get most of the brass from the top of the screen section.

I have a few articulate arm devices at my studio for holding small lights a light blockers
They mount on a Clamp device so I think these may work for the mounting system that can be altered for position
Trying to figure out how big the mouth of the catcher bag should be

I have used a large blue tarp and it worked.
Using the ground makes me get exercise.

When I was shooting at a crowded public range I used a couple of 1x2x24 and a couple of wire "U" pieces about 12" wide and 18" tall. Put the wire through the ends of the 1x2 and stitch fiberglass window screen over the wires to make a covered wagon type of tunnel to catch and deflect the cases. Keep the fabric loose do the brass does not bounce around. Everything folds flat.

About 40yrs ago I made one out of wire coat hangers and an old mesh scarf from the Goodwill.
Worked pretty well. Unfortunately the combination of hard wire and hard wood grips on my Colt 1911 made my middle finger go numb
Use a cardboard box at the Rifle Range to catch brass from auto-loading rifles..

I roll out a tarp or old blanket to my right side in the desert during shooting trips. Not a "catcher net" per se, but I can herd the empties into the center of the landing pad for collection without much fuss and bother. Desert winds play hell with any vertical draping or hanging net or cloth. We usually anchor the corners and often the windward side with rocks to keep the tarp within our current ZIP Code.

Limited space on our pistol range ...need to keep it compact ( in my shooting space) that is why it is a bit of a challenge

My CZ would do well with a brass catcher, it is pretty consistent in ejection.
My 1911 is better now that it has a new extractor but it still isn’t quite as consistant.

I will admit that I have considered making something that I can get close to the gun and capture 80-90%.

2 vertical rods with cloth not stretched tight & kinda pocket at bottom? Stitch sleeve on the ends. Had 2 GKs last time that picked up all brass they could find.

Angeles Shooting Ranges has a screen that mounts to either side of its benches on its rifle line. These are about 30" x 30", constructed of 1-1/2" laths with chicken wire centers. The legs engage with slots on either side of the concrete benches. These don't really "catch" brass, but do prevent it from striking adjacent shooters which are fairly close by. I see no reason why a wind-sock-shaped capture net could not be substituted for the wire cloth that ASR uses.

I have no doubt that there is enough talent here to come up with a perfect solution. I'm liking the idea of a medium size landing net with fine mesh attached to a lightweight tripod. Portable, adjustable, and effective. I have a pistol that will send empties directly over my head....damned little 380 and those cases disappear into even short grass. A net handle attached to a panhead could be set at the right angle to catch almost any brass flinging nightmare's attempt at losing my brass.

I use a little velcro attached bag on my AR's at the range. Not 100% but pretty effective. In the hunting field I accept losing some brass.

I have a frame i have made out of conduit. But i have been wondering about what kind of material to use. I know some material melts when it comes in contact with hot brass.
