Bullet Storage Boxes

I mailed a bunch of sample bullets to someone in those 3M Super 33 tape boxes, very handy.
That would be me. I wondered what that container was originally used for. Lol. Now I know.

We've had threads about this before, but I've found something that's really working well for me, and is really inexpensive. These are Sterilite CD storage boxes, and I'm buying them at a local grocery store for $1.35 ea. They're reasonably sturdy, and are stackable as well. Dimensions are 7-5/8 long x 6-1/2 wide x 4-1/2 tall. They just beat cardboard boxes to hell.

I have been using the same ones for a few years. I get them by the case for under 12 bucks thru Walmart or Amazon. Use them for cast boolits, pre-primed brass, tool heads for my pro2000 ect. They hold close to 30 lbs of boolits. Last 2 cases I got were just over 7 bucks on Amazon.

I use 3"×3"×2 1/2" plastic boxes My Wife gets at the dollar store. Three for $1.00, snap on blue lids and stack well.
They are small enough to pick up with one hand, as I no longer have the hand strength to pick up anything bigger. The qt- 1/2" gal size is now too heavy to pick up with one hand.

This has been hashed around a number of times, but here goes.
I use metal candy/ cookie tins.
Mostly the smaller ones.
Bigger ones get pretty heavy to handle when full of bullets.
I stand my lubed/sized bullets on end with a layer of heavy paper between layers.
They are clearly marked as to mold#, diameter, weight, and alloy.

I Use candy Tins also!
One of my biggest commercial photography accounts was Gertude Hawk Chocolates! So when we shot tins of chocolates for the holidays they just told me to trash the tins! Yes I did right to my shop ( just like may other products I did over the last 47 years!)
They stack nicely and are different sizes! I also use Large wooden Cigar boxes that my friend gives me from time to time. They are far to nice construction to have him trash them!

I matter of factly asked my wife to ask her sisters to save me clear plastic screw top containers like Mayo and peanut butter.

last night my wife came home from a visit with a 30 gal trash bag FULL!! Of clear plastic screw top PEANUT JARS!! Maybe 10” tall and 3” round. Apparently my sister in law gets they 99c ea and FEEDS SQUIRRELS!! :)

Also apparently they have a voracious appetite!!! Hahahaha. As this was just about two months supply!!!!

Hahaha. Guess I needbe careful what I ask for... they will work YES, only my shelves have a 8” height. Guess I’ll building another shelf soon....

4x4 and 6x6 boxes. They last a long time and hold ~500 bullets. Easy to find at local "paper products" store.

I like the peanut jars, and the container that sliced lunch meat comes in. I also use Greek yogurt containers for using my version of bll for coating plinking loads. (My bll is lla-beeswax-turpentine)

I’ve used coffee cans and the plastic jars that nuts come in from Costco, as well as cigar boxes, but I recently standardized on the Outdoor Products waterproof boxes. Coleman markets a similar box.

They aren’t inexpensive, but I’m not casting as much as I used to and these meet my needs now.

Some have said I’m a mite OCD, and maybe they have a point. :)

OCD or not, I like the way you identify the bullets. I use the plastic locking lid containers my wife gave me for a lot of my bulk brass storage but bullets go into cardboard 4x4 boxes.

I have a few boxes of bullets stacked in neat rows. Sized and lubed, ready to go.

I'm still using the boxes that the bullets came in from Mr Joe Penny. He was a Custom Caster in Tujunga, CA. I bought a lot of different bullets from Him while I was working out what molds to buy. Each bullet He cast was a Perfect Jewel.

Kevin, I found if I stack the bullets uniformly then I might need tweezers to get some of them out ;)

As to the label, OCD is my excuse, but the label really helps with Can't Remember Stuff syndrome.

The other thing is using the smaller boxes, they aren't as heavy as a coffee can or larger container, so that helps out too.

Ziplock freezer storage bags for brass and sometime long ago bought a bunch of blue storage plastic boxes with the J&J logo on them for storing cast bullets. Remember when Speer sold their pistol ammo in the yellow boxes, have a bunch so store small amounts of bullets in them. Larger amounts of brass go in heavy cardboard boxes and marked with a magic marker. Frank

I've kept 100 shot shell hulls in 1gal zip locks since the zip locks came out.
Once fired .223, 500 to a zip lock I think.
Just finished a big jar of JIF, Best storage container for me. Full of PC'd .44's front a great N.O.E. mold.
