View attachment 14140There in lies the problem.

No, not really. You can still go outside/fish, etc. I am not even CLOSE to anyone when I do that. And essential people still move (I am one; helping wife staff the group home for mentally disabled adults). Fuel/groceries, etc. Guns stores still open. People here for the most part were doing their part. About THE ONLY thing the order changed in reality was create another panic and a run on the stores. Wally World was INSANE. I saw stacks of paper towels and carts with $200 of meat in them. Stacked carts til stuff was falling out. Insanity. I had been able to just get a few things at a time, as usual. Not now. AND, now worried about getting required things for the group home again.

I can't understand the panic - hoarding thing. Living anywhere you should be prepared with the essentials. I know there's people that stop and get dinner at the store on the way home. But, come on. I know I over do it, but unless this virus gives you the runs, you don't need all that extra paper. And a little meat goes along ways, get the beans and rice and some frozen veggies and whatever. Of course I'm looking at it from a standpoint of being relatively prepared to subsist for a few months with what's on hand. The neighbors and I have decided if needed, we will pull down a local moose and split it up. hopefully close to my shop so we can use the overhead crane.
I don't know, I guess I don't understand being that dependent on the system. Systems break down. People go nuts when faced with shortages they aren't ready for, and consequently go into knee jerk mode.

ODF&W will have people watching popular fishing spots.
I get the feeling if people don`t do their social spacing they may close fishing seasons...dale

Nebraska closed spring turkey hunting to non-residents to reduce travel into the state.
Nothing will be untouched by this.

Yep. "Everybody stay home" and "95% of businesses and employees are 'essential'". Anyone see a conflict there?

We work on ambulances, police cars, utility trucks, and delivery vehicles. The people that operate them are essential. The cycle can't be broken unless EVERYONE sits still for three weeks, and that's not gonna happen (fortunately and unfortunately).

I'm going pig hunting tomorrow. I have a full tank of gas and will burn about 1/4 of it so I leave here, drive to a private ranch, maybe hang with the owner, spend some time in the wilderness, and come straight home with no stops.

Right now I'm gonna go cast some .22s....pot is heating. Make lemonade, fellas!

Week 4 Day 1

Utah has closed all state parks. Which includes all fishing and camping. Read this morning that the Feds are closing up Lake Powell on the sixth of this month.
And like John G, if it gets to where I really need to get food, I will walk up the mountain on the family property and knock down a deer. Not one of my favorite meats, but if you are hungry enough, you will eat bout anything.

The world will be getting painfully small for a lot of people really soon. I'm hearing rumors of Nebraska closing off the RV parks. I believe the state parks are already closed now. Now cars are banned from stopping in the state owned interstate truck parks/ rest areas.

Ian,
What are you going to use for the hog hunt.
You have a plethora of guns and calibers to choose from (does my envy show?)
Inquiring minds want to know.

LR-308. This is what I built it for and the first hunt results were extremely satisfactory with the MP 30 Silhouette hollow points. Besides, it will be drizzling and I don't want to take any of my leverguns out in it.

Our shop has a real advantage in my area. Most shops, dealers included, won't or can't do what we do. Army & Air Guard vehicles, FEMA, Lancaster County Civil Defense, we see all of them. We don't get cop cars though, they have their own garages (fortunately). I must be getting jaded at work, nothing that comes through the gate surprises me anymore. I do dislike working with motor homes, but they're good for cash flow. Every one we work on is paid for before it leaves. We have some of the commercial accounts stiffing us right now.
