Casting in Volume

My grandson Trevor has been shooting my pump Rem. 7600, 30-06 pretty well.
The Lee .30 cal. 155 gr. ( SKS bullet ) seems to shoot real well out of the pump.
My alloy makes a .3125" bullet on the drive bands.

I decided to get my 6 cav. Lee mould out this morning and cast before it got too hot.

This mould will rain .30 cal. bullets ! !
Trevor really likes this rifle and load.

The load was 30-06, 8.5 grs. of Alliant Unique, the Lee 155 gr. sized and g/c'd .310" with a Fed 210 Match Large rifle primer. Range was 50 yards.

It is nice to have some high- capacity moulds! I bet you appreciate them, these days, more than ever.

Those big six cavity bullet really will put out some quantity. Depletes the lead supply, though.

I like that bullet a lot Ben!

I shoot it in quite a few different guns and it does quite well for me.
Never hot rodded just middle of the road fun plinking stuff.

you can't really 'hot rod' the second and newer iterations of that bullet.
the first one Walt and the original Lee, and the one HM-2 done from Ed's original drawings will.

Right now, Trevor doesn't do well with " hot rod " loads.
Just as well I guess...........This bullet meets our needs just fine at the moment.

That Lee 155gr shoots really well in my RAR 300blk with 15gr of IMR4227
I can get real close to 1" five shot groups at 100 yards off a bench.
It's a good plinker in my wife's Ruger Gunsite scout rifle too.

I used flat nose bullets at first like the " ranch dog design " in this pump action 30-06. Flat nose designs weren't feeding very well.
I tried the " Lee SKS " bullet.
I got great accuracy and super silky smooth feeding.
At this point in time, the search has stopped and the shooting has started.

Yep, it's gotta function first and foremost, unless tight groups from a bench is the only goal and then even breech seating is tolerable if it achieves the end goal. Those 155s shoot pretty respectably out of my M1A at near jax speeds, fit the magazine, and feed like poop through a goose.

Good mould!! I use it for service rifle/gallery practice. Size to .311, and lla, no check with bullseye.
