I guy I work with has one he will sell me. I need to look it over but I think it’s in very good condition. What do you guys think a fair price would be?
I don’t want to pay too much but it would be a sweet cast rifle!

I paid $500 ( out the door ) at the Birmingham Gun Show recently . I bought my Rem. 788 30-30 from an individual. As you stated , it is a nail driver with cast bullets. I'd rate mine 98% or so.

Hope you get it! $500 was what I was willing to pay Missed out on mine because I wasn't at the show myself to make the final decision

For a very nice rifle like that you need to decide how bad you want it.
Right rifle in right cartridge like that, 500 is very fair.

I need to go look at this thing. The guy who has the rifle said his dad bought it new in 1970.
They have only used it to occasionally hunt deer. The never just take it out and shoot it. I bet it hasn’t seen more than. Couple hundred rounds tops. He says it in nice shape. Missing the sights but that’s okay with me. I’ll put a scope on it if I get it.

I have seen the savage 340's up near 400, so the Remington at 500$ is a pretty good price.
you could offer him what he paid for it and watch him try to remember if it was 79$ or 179$
