Chicken hearts... really hungry for them.

Way back when I was young, my grandmother "traded" eggs for meat. About once a month she would bring home chicken hearts. They were lightly breaded and fried in a large cast iron skillet to perfection. Once done, she would use the grease and drippings for white gravy to go with potatoes and onions.

I have not had these for 35 years or more and would kill for them. I can't find chicken hearts to save my soul.

Thats because some idiot thinks it a good idea to pack them with cat fish bait ....... I mean livers , my bad . Likely if you ask the butchers would pack a quart or 2 .

My local Albertsons carries them. I boil them on low for a long time then drain. Back in sauce pan with a little butter and a liberal dose of Franks Red hot sauce. Good stuff!

Back Here in northeast PA.......You get lucky some time and score a nice package of Chicken hearts, ( also Chicken livers & chicken feet) every once in awhile.
Have the little lady trained to purchase any nasty bits of critters if she ever sees them! That include Pig feet, The occasional kidney and liver of any hoofed beast they are willing to sell!
