Chimney effext

Am I the only one who likes to stand rifle up to cool the barrel? I like the fact that the warm air in the bore rises which means cool air is drawn in the breech. Can't hurt to get air flow thru the bore to help cool things down.

nope.
I have a spot behind my bench right next to the window where I can stand up 2 rifles.
I crack the window open and pull/open the bolts and lean the rifles against the hooks I put there.

I've done the chimney hot barrel cool out for several years also it started after observations in a duck blind after a particularly long first shoot . It was cold , the dog was working well , and the BPS barrel was making heat shadows closed on a whim I opened the action , mild chimney effect . Dunno if it does anything for the smaller bores or not without a little push to get it started .

I think I remember BruceB saying he used to funnel ice water through his barrels to cool them.
