22 Short, thank you. I knew it wasn’t LR but there were a bunch of variations on the theme back then.

I am strongly drawn to leverguns, and to the '73 models especially. I wouldn't mind finding a '73 repro in 32/20 WCF one bit. I already own 4 arms in this weird old cantankerous caliber, one more won't matter much.

I have two of the S&W Winchester Models and have just located a third.

It is a decent cartridge from a handgun. I looked for but never found an Italian SAA in 32 WCF. Now, I favor the N frame in 45 ACP. Might not turn down a K frame if the price was right but not looking.

So, no pix, but picked it up today and shot it. 1) BEAUTIFUL rifle! 2) SWEET action! 3) Perfect wood! 4) Gorgeous case coloring! 5) Uberti did a great job! Plus - I can actually relatively see the iron sights on this one. Two diff trad loads, 10 yds one ragged hole offhand. 25 yds OH groups about 1 1/2", and with my old eyes and WAY out of practice shooting a rifle offhand. 6) LOTTSA OOOHS and AAAHHS at the shop/range! One RSO shot it and fell in love! 7) Money/price/my situation to pick this one up was perfect storm! I will remember it's special acquisition circumstances to the end!

So, only 2 negatives. 1) butt plate was slightly freckled. No bust - 2 min of Brownells Stainless Sponge and Eez-OX (THE BEST rust remover combo, imho) and almost good as new! 2) Side plate screw head totally destroyed. Smith ordering a pair of new ones. May have to 'remove' original, bit shouldn't be a big deal. 3) minor neg - this one is NOT D&T'd for tang sight.

If i should run into another one in 32-20, I HOPE I have funds! Almost same for 45 Colt (considering I already have a Henry Big Boy 45 Colt, and won't hesitate to take IT into the woods!) THIS gun will never be drug thru the woods. Range, and when all the boys/family get together for holidays and hit the woods range, I predict this one will be THE #1 Fun Gun and request to shoot!

PS: Anyone know how to 'date' the gun based on serial #?

Cool, man! (I suspected you'd like the fit and finish, and overall quality.)
My Uberti 1866 gets the oohs and aahs, too. It's my understanding that the stain replicates that used by Winchester, back in the day. I'd prefer a matte finish rather than the glossier, though.
Be careful when turning the screws as they are very soft. I think it's either Taylor's and Co. or Cimarron that makes hardened screws.

I have a well used 92 in 44-40 octagon bbl rifle and a Colt Lighting also in 44-40 and they are fun. Like how the old rifles point for me. That Lightning is fast and smooth. One of the only 73's I've owned was in 38-40, that was a good feeling gun. Just heavy by comparison. Uberti sure is making some wonderful guns, nice to see the traditional guns being continued.
Uberti or Cimarron, can't remember which is making the 1876 in 50 -95 I believe, now talk about a heavy (10lb) lever gun, but beautiful.
You're going to enjoy that beautiful rifle, but you already know that. Enjoy.

Imagine the 1876 in 40/60!

Well I happen to have 2 SSK moulds by NEI from back in the 80's designed by J D Jones which are .410 - .411 diameter. The dual cavity drops a 175 gr and the second cavity drops a 225 gr. The second mould is a four cavity that drops at 300 gr. Still New in the box.
I Got them along with the 310gr in 44 and a 200gr 358.
My brother had a 41 and I had a Winchester takedown 95 in 405. Sold the 405 along with the rest of my Winchesters. Never used the moulds.
I'm wondering repo 40-60's would be .410's?
