Copy of the Lyman 311008

My Ruger # 1, 30-30 shoots this one real well.
I've had a Lyman 311008 single cav. for a couple of months. The single cav. mould cast a fine bullet, but trying to keep ammo loaded for my grandson with a single cav. is tough. I've been trying to find a 2 cavity ( or 4 or 5 cav. ) clone of the 311008 with no luck of late.

My luck changed over the weekend..............
Al at NOE was very nice to accommodate me with a mould, a new 2 cav. aluminum " clone " of the 311008. The mould arrived in the morning's mail.
Of course, there was nothing to do but prep the mould, plug
up the pot and cast a few hundred. Neither cavity shows any tendency of the bullets to stick. They literally jump from the mould.
The cast bullets drop from the mould at .3125 " with ACWW's , nice and round.
Lubed, sized, and ready to load they tip the scales at 124.5 grs.
My grandson will really enjoy these in the Ruger # 1, 30-30 .

My grandson will have some fun with these , here is one
of his targets he shot with the 311008 in the Ruger # 1, 30-30 :
Cheap , clean shooting with no gas check to buy.

At the casting bench in the sky. RIP Bret.
I gotta say Ben, you're making the rest of us Grandfathers look pretty bad. Do us a favor and have Trevor keep this on the QT, eh? ;)

Ha..... :) , I see your point.
We talk on the phone every night.
All he wants to talk about is guns.
He loves it !!!!!!!!!!!

Here he is at the range shooting the Ruger # 1, 30-30 Win.
When I was his age ( 10 ), I could not shoot like him ! !

Of course, it is also true that he has access to a much wider variety of handguns, rifles and shotguns than I ever did, along with a near endless supply of ammo.

I contacted Arsenel Moulds about the 311008.
He told me he would make me one and " fine tune " the CNC machine
to allow the mould to drop the bullet at the diameter that I specified.

That's the beauty of CNC. It's just a matter of changing a couple of numbers.

Thanks Ben
I'll look into what size I need and order one from them, have a couple of his molds and find them equal to NOE in quality. Looked at his diagram and seems at .314 it may need to be adjusted a bit.

Thanks for the update
