Cripes, I miss shooting...

Between the range burning down (open for shooting again now, YAY!) and a divorce that is currently at the stage where my wife is sneaking into the house to leave dog poop on the kitchen counter - Somehow she thinks that isn't covered by her restraining order - I have only been to the range once in 6 months. If it seems like I haven't got much to say in the forum, well... That's why. I'm getting really tired of re-reading old gun mags over and over.

I've been re-reading old mags lately, I just installed all 311 Handloader issues on my computer, every magazine except the current one from this month. Over 6 gigabytes of storage. Lot's of reading there. :)

If there was a guarantee that all the money went to the tireless writers of Handloader, I would buy the set too!

I've been digging through American Rifleman 1920-1950. In 1947, Communist paranoia really starts to set in, and things start to spiral downward. I think it had something to do with the general unavailability of guns and ammo after the war. The depression was really the great times for gun cranks for some reason. Maybe because nobody had anything else to do to occupy their time but shoot rats and sparrows for dinner.

I've got every paper magazine from #1 up through the late ninety's. Bought the 40 year set on DVD for half off at the SHOT Show and single year (6 issues) since then. Never put them on the computer before but glad I did now, far easier than dragging out stacks of paper magazines or endlessly sticking discs in the tray. Now if Wolfe would only put together a decent and current index I would be a happy camper. They did an index for every article and every author for every issue of both handLoader and Rifle magazines up through 1996, since then your on your own, they've never published an updated index.

Been getting the Handloader/Rifle/Hunter digital for the last 7 or so years. Save them all. Only one I really use is Handloader, but love the digital copies. 'Course, when I want to read something or get load data, I print it out!

More power to you! If it isn't in ink and on paper, I don't like it. Bought a Kindle, but only used it to check my email. Now it just sets. This is 1/4 of my library.

Wow, Ric. Impressive collection.

Think I'd change locks & get some cameras, or just move. That seems over the top, even for crazy ladies. Distance might help.

You've got quite a few I've been pinin' for. Here's about half of mine, mostly not including my recent bound volumes of American Rifleman from the 20's-40's, or any loading guides:

However, I've got several hundred gun books and old magazine volumes in PDF... Just not quite a few that I want.

So, if all sorts of crazy poop doesn't keep happening, I'll have a place to live on April 3, and can start shooting again the following weekend. Latest bit of idiocy was having to promise the insurance company that I would convince the seller to remove all the bars from the windows, because they are an impediment to the Fire Dept.

I guess I did it the hard way. I've got all the paper issues of Shooting Times and Guns & Ammo from 1987. I cut them all in half and scanned them into pdf files so I could access them easier.
Shooting Times still has some good articles occasionally, but I've lost all interest in Guns and Ammo.
