Brown &Sharpe #607..... picked up over the years. Some? folks make do with one. Part of the handle section unscrews to accept different length rods.... "I think" the sets come 0-12" but don't quote me. I like having these 3 which covers 90% of their usefulness, being too lazy to swap out rods.

You can use a dial caliper as a depth gage but,the small base makes it hard.... least for me? Use these for several key areas, dinking on guns and handloading. I record die height with them,as an example. Not really a hoarder,or a collector but love the Brown & Sharpe tools.... kind of,more from a "rescue" perspective?

Most sets I've seen these days come 0-6" in 1" increments (the limit of the barrel threads). Couldn't afford a good one so I picked up an Acu-tools or some such set from Mao's Emporium, it's a wonderful tool. No way to chamber a bolt rifle without one. Calipers aren't near accurate enough even if they had a decent anvil for depth. Not much in the way of machinists in this state so almost no "rescues" available here.
