Did a little handgun shooting today

Took my old IPSC (like from 1980's) 1911 45 ACP AMT Long Slide out for a spin today. Had some 45 ACP ammo loaded with Lee 200 SWC and WST, so gave it a try. Still works ! 30 rounds on one target, 25 on the other.

I'd like to say don't you hate it when you have to put tape on a target to hold the middle together.
unfortunately I can't shoot well enough to know the feeling.

Looks like someone had some fun.

I did that Tuesday at the indoor range. Ran 100 each PC thru he 624 and my wife’s 686. They shot quite well and no leading. Time to load up a bunch more now that I know the PC agrees with the revolvers.

AMT made some interesting stuff. Like a 10-lb all stainless 10/22 copy. Neat pistol, Cherokee, and it looks like you know how it works a little:p

Speaking of AMT, any of you ever see one of these before?

I remember those,, I think RCBS got them to paint some Green back in the early 90's or thereabouts.

oh and if anyone asks why we are up at 1-2 AM doing dumb stuff,, just show them the back round of that picture.

There's about 200 more in the shed full of brass.

What, doesn't everybody have a commerical Bunn installed in their kitchen?

I got about that many coffee containers in my reloading room. IMO they are the best containers to have.
And nice shooting Cherokee .

The long slide is without a doubt the best CF plinker ever made. Nothing within 50 yards is safe.

Wow, that is the longest slide I have ever seen. And great shooting
Cherokee!

So did AMT make that Autoscale? Never saw one before.

I'm with fiver, not a coffee drinker. The stuff gives me serious heartburn,
and caffeine does NOT keep me awake. I was trying to study in college late
at night, taking No Doze to stay awake. Took so many that my vision got
weird, silvery splotches floating in the air, so I went to sleep, no probs. Enough caffeine
to wipe out my eyes will not keep me awake. So, NO point at all in fighting
the upset stomach.

And you said you wasted too much time looking for the mystical / magical handgun load. And …. you had it all the time. Wish my ammo performed like that after 25+ years. Wow! Lube I was using back then woulda been dried out or bled into the powder with my luck.

Yessir!

Those are right-fine targets, Cherokee. Strong work!

Marie and I LOVE good coffee. Our shipment of 5# of Black Rifle Coffee Company's "Beyond Black" dark roast just arrived. She and I don't put on a lot of airs, but we do enjoy full-flavored coffees. NOT STARBUCK'S--those &^% @%^$ refried Bolsheviks.

I love good coffee. Since I quit smoking and alcohol screws with my meds and blood sugar too much to enjoy coffee is my remaining consumption based vice. Doesn't usually screw with my stomach, I drink it from breakfast until I go to bed, doesn't seem to do much to keep me awake. And my gun room also has a backdrop of coffee cans, very useful to have around. I store almost all my cast bullets in them. And they are essentially free.

Very nice, Cherokee. I had an early-nineties(?) AMT 1911 and it was not nearly as "finished" as that one - like they omitted a lot of machining. It worked just fine but wasn't very attractive. "Galena" comes to mind. I believe my AMT might have been after they changed hands or something.

They copied another Ruger favorite too - the Ruger Standard Auto, and AMT called theirs the "Lightening." Never handled one that I remember, but I did heft their 10-22 copy in a shop and set it right back in the rack. I remember it seeming heavy.

I'm with KeithB. I drink coffee pretty much throughout the day but don't drink Folgers, but I like the cans because they match the color of my presses and everyone knows I "collect" recyclables, so I find one or two on my desk ever so often.

If any of you have a single-burner Coleman gasoline stove, those stoves fit into one of those can just right and are a lot cheaper than the legitimate case sold by Coleman - if they even make those any more.

There for a minute I thought that was a pic from under my bench, then I noticed how neat they were stacked.

I have always been a light drinker, but like Keith, when I gave up smokes I made up for it with coffee. My wife is like Bill, coffee puts her to sleep, probably due to ADD and so forth. We cold-brew it now, MUCH better taste even from Folgers crap, and none of the stomach upset or heartburn from hotbrew.

My 4" Kimber has no issue busting cow pies at 100 yards even with the 3-dot tritium sights and a 5-gallon bucket isn't safe at 200, aim small, miss small. It wants for sight radius, though, and I bet that AMT would be a blast at long range from a standing position.

The AMT 7" was great for long range back when I could see that far. Now days anything long range has to be a rifle, mostly with scope. I can't shoot handgun groups like that on demand any more but when I do things right, I get good results.
As for coffee (thread drift), I'm a big drinker (coffee, no alcohol) and it doesn't keep me awake. I'm not overly picky, it just has to be flavorful.
J - I have one of the AMT copies of the 10/22, it has a heavy target barrel and it more accurate than me.
