4831 works real good through a scoop. 296 also. Once we find an accurate load we make a new scoop and mark it .
Never get rid of all you large bore brass if you decide to scoop some powders.
That method will get a test-drive at least, next time I deal with either 4350 or 4831. I have a full set of the Lee powder scoops that I bought many years ago, and your text produced a "Hey, Dimwit!" moment for yours truly. THANK YOU!

WW-296/H-110 and the other fine-grained ball powders behave themselves very well in my RCBS powder measures. They aren't worth a darn in the MEC 600 Jr I use for shotshells, though. In the MEC slide-bar system the Alliant flake fuels run a whole lot better, as does Alliant 2400. 2400 gets the nod for my 410 reloading.

The weather finally got good enough for me to test the H4831 cast loads.
I chronographed and shot them for group at 50 yds.
To say the least, the groups were dismal.
I chose 45 gr. of 4831 for my tests because that was the lowest load that would shoot without unburned powder in the barrel.
As mentioned, all loads were 45 gr H4831 and CCI 250 primers. I chose magnum primer because I thought I would get a cleaner burn.
I also have quite a few.
Velocities were as follows.
Mosin Nagant 314299 at 209 grs = 2033
Mosin Nagant 311329 at 172 gr = 2102
K98 Mauser 8MM Kar at 238 gr = 1950
Both of the the MN groups were in the 8-10" range and 6-8" to the left of POA.
Bullet tipping was noticed with all shots from the MN.
The MN shooting to the left is a puzzle to me.
The 8MM group was around 6"
Recoil was less than ball loads but more than I want from a cast load.
I shot my trusted load in the MN following the H4831 test thinking some thing went to hell with the gun.
It shot to POA and had a nice group.
At this point I think I will save the H4831 for jacketed loads.
With this component shortage it may become good trading stock.

your at the point where more powder is needed [but not wanted] things most likely won't settle down until around 2400 fps.
but by then you'll have outstripped the designs ability and be right back in the same boat.
those longer bore riding bullets just can't hold up to the acceleration forces and quickly lose their ability to hang on,,, structurally and literally.
