Ejector Rods/Ejector Rod Buttons on Single Actions

I pop in at Singleactions.com forums now and then, and there's an active-duty Marine over there, who goes by tdbarton, selling ejector rods for Ruger Blackhawks. I've always thought these "dolled-up" ejector rod buttons were nice, but not necessary - like dressing up the lug nuts on an old truck. His looked nice enough that I went back and looked at them a few times. Feeling a bit like a hypocrite for looking down my nose at "decoration," but feeling a desire to have one of these pretty items which does not add to function, I ended up with one anyway.

Artfulness aside, I was wrong about my previous "nice but not necessary" perception of dressing up and ejector rod button. Maybe the rest of you can appreciate this more than I could before I used one of the checkered ejector rod buttons - it was lost on me until I did. They REALLY make a difference when punching out empties - even with gloves!

I LOVE this thing! Not only does it provide a true functional benefit. but it's beautiful to boot.

I've followed this fella's posts casually and he's a pretty stand-up guy. Maybe others here know about his work, but it was new to me and I like the idea of supporting an active-duty service-member in such efforts. I'm not related to this fella, don't know him personally and have no interest in his sideline, but I'd highly recommend his work.

I had already installed mine before I took photos, so I borrowed one from him (with permission) showing some of his ejector rods. Second from the right is the one I got. The photo on the installed one is mine. Once I compared it to the one I took off the gun - there's no comparison. I want to stress that these aren't just "pretty," but I finally appreciate the functional aspect of these now and no longer dismiss them as "nice but not necessary."

Nice.

It appears the rods are attached to the heads by peening the end of the rod to lock it to the head. That likely requires precise machining of the two parts, including a shoulder. That's good work. The quality is evident in all those parts. I particularly like the rod on the far right of the photo. The end of the rod is blended into the head and nicely finished.

I found that the button on the original on my Flat Top 44 Special is loose and swivels.

I should have taken more photos before I installed mine.

Jeff,

Two questions, if I may.
1. Pricing?
2. I don't do other forums, is there a way to contact the gentleman other than that forum?

Thank you,
Michael

Shot you a PM, @462. I had to ask him for his e-mail address. I am a member at Singleactions.com, so I've been communicating with him via PM there.

The one I got is $35. The fancier ones may be more, but I don't know. I like simple anyway. I'm not sure how much of a "business" this is for him or if he "dabbles," but I was happy to get one.

Thank you.

I like simple, too, and the cross hatching/checkering appears quite functional.
