Looking the other day for a Lee 6 cav mould I opened one up and got a surprise. I forgot I even owned a mould!
A long ago Lee group buy 429421 that casts an honest .432. Got to looking an wow, I even have some of them already sized and lubed kicking around.
Why did I buy the HG 503 from NOE? Because I forgot I owned this mould.
The lubed and sized bullets are getting ready to be mated with 44 special brass and 4.5 gr of Titegroup.

Will be interesting to see if they perform any different from the 503.

I forsee a good run of them tomorrow since I have a day off. The Magma pot will let me make a heap in a hurry.
I have 300 virgin Starline cases that need a first load too.

I went to look for a mold I have the other day to find I don't have it anymore.
I did find a mold I thought I sold in it's place.
now I'm wondering........

Sept. 10, 2021 Steve left us. You are missed.
After buying a duplicate I made a cheat sheet and put it in my wallet. Need to update now that I think of it.

Confession time.
I have a habit of buying the Midsouth custom Lee molds, sometimes I never even cast with them. They sell real well at the gunshow I do, because most of the casters wandering around that show haven't heard of Midsouth and get a little excited when they see a style of mold they have never seen before. So I'll order some after the show to replace what's sold, usually not more than one of each style at a time...just tagging them onto another order, so I have little to no extra ship fees involved. Anyway, while getting ready for a show a couple years ago, I found four of the 6.5 cruise missile

what's worse is I borrowed a mold to make a short run of bullets for a friend.

At large, whereabouts unknown.
If I had a dollar for every time I looked in the mould boxes and said out loud "where the hell did that come from?".....

Right now I also have two loaners, a 5 cavity 458 Accurate, and one of the MP 12 ga Lyman 525 slug moulds as house guests too.

Nope, never have forgotten any mold I have and I have 75-80 of them. I also have a mold list that lists every single mold by caliber and lists all info about the mold, List includes a picture of the bullet, as cast weight, length, as cast diameter, nose length and a whole bunch more. I never consider a new mold without consulting the list, never start a new project without checking what I have in that caliber, never forget a mold.

The older I get, the more I forget. Sort of like an out of date computer
with a maxed out memory bank.

Yup, I have. I was in the process of filling out the (paper) Midway order form (which tells you how long ago this was....) for a 2-cavity Lyman 257420 mould. I had it filled out, and went out to the garage to check and see if I needed anything else (GCs maybe?), and as I was digging around I found a new, in the box, (you guessed it) 2-cavity Lyman 257420 mould. To this day, I have no recollection of when I bought/traded for that mould (but I have cast a bunch of bullets with it).

I hear you Bret. Last time I had some cable freighted to my shop, I was moving stuff around to make room for the incoming. Found a 10,00 foot spool of cable I thought I was nearly out of. Something as small as a mould wouldn't even surprise me anymore. I swear chains for my chainsaw, come with legs on them, and run around the shop as soon as the lights go out!

I bought a nice one and when cannibalized other molds for a set of handles found I already had bought same mold 'back in the day'

They both do a great job, though

This afternoon I went out to cast a few bullets, and I found a bullet mould sitting in my casting space that I have no recollection of. It's a 2-cavity Lyman mould (.44 RN) on RCBS handles and both the mould and handles are pretty seriously rusted. First off, I don't put Lyman moulds on RCBS handles (nothing wrong with doing this, just that I have enough Lyman handles to go around), secondly I live in the dry desert. I make no claim to being the fastidious caretaker of moulds, just that things rust slowly enough here that I can stay on top of things pretty easily. Bottom-line -- my moulds don't generally get rusty. I have no clue to where this mould came from.

mold, slings, sling swivel sets, dies (oh how many times?!?), etc. Leather...

Recently, going thru my leather drawer. Hmmm... 1911 basket weave holster missing. No clue! Same thing for a 6 hole 45 cartridge belt slide. Ordered another belt slide - not found the original yet. However, cpl days later, was at a buddy's house, we were looking at his stuff and I had an epiphany! Realized where my 1911 holster went! lol!
