Rotometals contacted me for a shipping address, they'll be sending three pounds of 88/12 plus 3/4% antimony for me to test.

If you have a particular cast bullet design in mind to try out, lemme know. I will be happy to send tools as needed. I have a wide range of diameters and weights to choose from.

hmm the 180?
I could send the XCB mold over too if your interested.
I think the nose diameter is going to be partially what your gonna want to test down range, as much as alloy movement in the throat.

AL, between 90 and 93 I shot 6 deer, and elk a moose and 6 antelope with Barnes X original bullets. 165 gr either from the 30-36 or 308. The moose took two shots as I broke his back going away from me and about 75 feet lower than I was. That first bullet in the moose was the only one I recovered and it penetrated 63", loosing one petal on the spine.

We all had trouble with steel shot in the beginning. Once we got used to Better Patterns and Higher Velocity our kill ratio increased greatly.
Going to a 3" shell was a bit of a stretch and expensive to boot. But it also made me a more patient Hunter. No more "Sky Scraping" for me.

A box of shells at $13.00 a box does make for a more careful Shot. I'd be terrified to find out how much a box of ammo; steel or bismuth costs today.

I can't Hunt anymore but I still wish the Idiots in Sacramento had an Honest understanding of Terminal Ballistics. And non-emotional judgement.

I bought a box of non-toxic bullets for every centerfire Rifle I could Hunt with (if I could) and some .357 & .44 Revolver bullets too.

Ya never know, and I can always dream.

it didn't help that the factory's couldn't do simple math to see what the down range energy was when compared to lead shot.
all they would say was move up 2 shot sizes and left it at that.
well a load of #4 steel at 1330 or 1350 fps was about worthless past 20 feet.

I had a real long talk with some federal rep's at the 1996 grand American about what I was doing with steel shot back then, versus what they were doing, it took about 2 years for them to come around but their 1400 fps 3" shell is still a good solid load.

I bought a bunch of off brand , PMC and Blue steel , because it was loaded with the same parts I was using for $.50/box less than I could load it . Those are about $6-7/ box now off season . They fall on their face under 30° , but I bought a bunch of Kent Fasteel for the late season at about $8/box season close out . For $2.50 a box I didn't mind buying . Besides it's easier to move a case of loaded shells than parts for it .

those Kent's are good shells.
I also like the Fiocchi's.
I just tossed out a good pile of both of the hulls and sort of regret it, but I do have a couple of cases of each and can replace them easy enough.

i still have a flat or two of the Federals the rep. gave me to try out when they first got them loaded.
the tin plated heads are getting a little whitish from age and wet conditions [from sitting in the storage area of the air boat] but they still do the job.
