Finding a sweet spot between shaving bullets and dropping them into the case? 9mm

I just can't believe the white lab coat types, (and those who lead from plush comfy offices) have so much trouble understanding that you just can't miss them fast enough to stop them.

Allen,
Though I enjoyed our one phone conversation, I won't be calling your regarding the 9 mm Luger. I don't own anything so chambered and have no intentions of every doing so. I only carry a .40 S&W because my medium frame and svelte figure doesn't conceal a .45 ACP as well. Size does matter, and that 1/2" to 3/4" larger frame is a bit too much. That said, I've not given up on a carry .45 ACP.

Come on, man, please start!

The 9mm is not a bad caliber--if I have left that impression, I didn't mean to. Even when loaded at Eurospeed levels, its recoil is moderate and easily managed. It is accurate enough to hunt small varmints and game with to 50 yards. Giving the devil his due, those 147 grain JHPs shoot VERY accurately in well-turned-out pistols. But if business usage is in the mix, use real ammo. Velocity is the caliber's only real advantage. As this thread's content has borne out, the caliber can be a real bee otch kitty to load for with castings.

No, Michael, going off about the admin pogues and lab-coated acolytes at FBI would just create a lot more heat than it would shed true light. It would wax political too soon and cause unneeded labor for our moderators, and that just messes stuff up. We have Facebook for things like that.

I understand, Allen, and don't want to create any undue member rumblings, nor the moderators to have to clean up the ensuing messiness.
I was being more facetious, though I do enjoy your heretical musings.

They are BOTH equally suited as fishing net weights, although there are generally less expensive options available.
I have bought a load of reloading gear from what appeared to be an estate. Included was a set of Lee dies with carbide crimping die. I'm not sure if this crimping die is not a solution hunting for a problem. I installed the dies in a Dillon 550 tool head.

I did like very much being able to adjust the roll crimping portion-I was loading 357-be from the top without having to monkey with the die body. The jury is till out on the crimping itself. I am loading 358156's with shallow crimping grooves. I'll know tomorrow if that contraption works. My first impression is that one can load some pretty revolver rounds in those dies. We'll see. I use the original FCD to remove and remains of neck expansion. I'm not into squishing bullets in this manifestation.

Added: I would never spend the money for those dies in any other set of circumstances. I'm just not seeing the cost being justified.

Heresy is a ton of fun. Everyone should try it, at least once a day. What the heck, the country is ungovernable anyway (and Condi Rice said so), so what difference would it make?
