First time out for doe.

I missed opening day because of yard work. My friend Don came this morning. He is a rifle hunter but I had him shoot my SBH .44 and gave it to him with a holster. At about 7:44, I heard him shoot. I sat tight and just after 8 I had a nice doe come in. I dropped her with my BFR. I gutted and went to his stand, he shot a nice one, first revolver deer, very first shot. What a great morning and to see his smile will be my memory. Mine and then Don's. We had to get out of hot stuff, orange and long Johns.
I have so much pride in my friend. To go from a .270 to a .44 and make it count the very first time with a perfect heart shot Is hard to explain. He will never be the same. I created a monster.

Yeah, if it ain't a wheel gun it ain't a real gun. Another convert is a good thing.

Hunting's been slow so far this year here. I haven't been out yet but John has several times since bow season and then Black powder opened. Gun season starts for me on the 14th of next month.

Both nice eating deer. As to wheel guns for deer, will be happy to leave them up to you guys, and more power to you. I would have to have a 25 yd or under standing shot before I would try my hand with a revolver. Good pics.

Ya know, it is a strange feeling on stand with the funny little gun in hand. Always wish for a shoulder stock or bags. It does not go away. Darn, need a rifle. Crazy thoughts but the revolver works.
I don't know what Don felt after hunting all these years with a 270. It is a new experience and I did not expect he would do that good with a first shot.
A wonderful friend with an experience he will never forget. Just how can you go wrong?

Those are a couple of nice deer. Frankly, when I was hunting deer I pretty much preferred a nice doe over a buck (regardless of his rack). I guess you could just call me a meat hunter...
