Nice work!
Hi,
Thanks, that is about the height of my machining skills, I'm a Hack but can usually come up with something.

That Rock Island Vise was so bad, the thought crossed my mind to just weld the two halves together and call it a day, but couldn't!

Cut the base, made a new ring and cut everything flat and it actually works pretty good now!

As long as we've wandered some , a question not thread worthy .

Is a bottom pour worth it ? I've ladled for the entire 14ish yr I've been doing this and I'm pretty darned consistent with moulds that are consistent . That behemoth H&G 8 #130 is a challenge but even with just barely enough to fill it I have small variation .
I cast from 62 gr 22 to a .690 RB . Changing results isn't on my list of reasons mostly it's having lived a full life and age catching up with that . A rest and not having to lift the ladle I think might make it easier on me but if I'm going to give up my <1% consistency I'll suffer a while longer .

I've looked at the 220 V 20# Lee's as a place to start buying 2 even seemed like a good idea .

Ladle v. bottom pour is topic that can be debated at length.

I've used both methods and I'm sure most on this forum have as well.

In the "For What It's Worth" category, I find bottom pout to just be faster and easier. As for the results, I'm not convinced there's a significant difference unless we're talking about large bullets, in which case a bottom pour may not release molten lead fast enough to get a good pour. Because pots are different, valves are different and the amount of head pressure (amount of molten lead over the valve), I'm not sure if there's a well-defined point of what constitutes a "big" bullet.

I have obtained good results with a ladle and a bottom pour.

Just a geewiz I've not had a bottom pour ..........I didn't have a real ladle until about 6 yr ago and managed decent bullets . I've poured from 225-37s up and it's a shorter list between there and 35/9/38 cal that I haven't than have . Big bullets ........a 3 cav 460-535 sucks up 1/4# every pass . I think based on what I know ........think I know , I could do well with the 35 and down I think although it also sounds like it tips to the ladies favor over 200 gr so .......
Maybe things will loosen up by June or July a little .

Hi,
There are different Apps and Programs.

Every pic I post here and on other Forums from my cell phone, gets resized, and renamed.

I do not use Windows, but Linux Ubuntu, but not really that different.

Ubuntu is great. I have dual boot on my computer with separate harddrive for each. I put Ubuntu on wife's laptop because Windows kept messing up on it. All she does is check email and surf the web with it. That was four years ago and it has not had one hickup yet!

Hi,
I'm now using Ubuntu 20.04 LTS, (Long Term Support) on my Customized Lenovo Thinkpad T-420.

I upped the RAM to 16 MB and install a 500 GB SS Hard Drive.

Have a 1 TB HD in a caddy in the DVD Slot, so pushing 1500 GB'S!

Does all I want to do and for about $300!

I'll never buy another Computer or pay another Service Man, as far as I can see.

Got tired of Bill Gates putting things on my Computer without asking and tired of all the spyware, trojans and BS altogether!

If you have not upgraded to the Ubuntu 20.04 LTS do it, it is the best Ubuntu, I have ever used, yet!

Ya, mee too. I have built my own desktops for many years. And have dabbled with different distros of Linux for a long time. No spyware, no virus's and no crashes. I have two 500 gb drives , one for each operating system. Doesn't matter what you disable of the Microsoft spyware as soon as an update happens it is all turned back on anyways so I usually use Ubuntu. I use Ubuntu Studio so I can edit video files. Very powerful program and Linux and programs are all FREE! Can't beat that.Good luck.
