What these guys quoted here have said just to sum up. I Love Finnbears.

Someone said "the 30-06 is never a bad choice"
Bill

Well I intended to quote about half of the postings above, but not working on my phone.
But Ian needs to fix his problem. No 06, he must have a fever.

Currently I only have 2 30-06, which is a low for me. If I ran across a nice Finnbear, at that price, I'd have three.

I don’t own an 06, or a 308. I do have a 30-30, 32-20, and a 300 BO.

This is most definitely NOT the place to come if you want to be talked out of buying a firearm.

Lamar--that must be one dense stock and and a truck-axle barrel on that CZ you speak of. My Hornet (CZ-527) is of a proper weight for rat-whacking and walking around.

Does that come with a crew to serve it? Or at least wheels and a trailer hitch?

I may be 2-3 lbs off in my estimate, but it felt like raising 2 gallons of milk to my shoulder when I looked it over.
I don't remember the exact price but 6-700$ wouldn't be too far off, that was the real burden.
I remember thinking I could grab the Ruger predator and a lower end scope for the same price.

That kind of takes the fun out of the whole concept of a x39 bolt-action rifle from my point of view. I'd want something in the 7-8 pound range with light 4X scope and a 20" barrel.

My CZ 7.62x39 early style carbine (18 inch barrel) weights six and half pounds with a new model Redfield six power.

Website shows them at 6+ pounds with the 18.5” tube. Add a small scope and have some fun.

I pretty much have that in one of my SKS's.

May be it weighs that much because you got the interval mixed up with Ian's new load development technique.
