A full wadcutter is normally a low pressure, low velocity SHORT RANGE bullet. An accurate answer to your question Quick is easy to find. Load up 10 rounds of WC's and 10 rounds of a semi WC loaded as I posted to top end velocity for the cartridge and shoot groups at even 100 yards. Your answer will come quick and very conclusive.

good chuckle.
I have a 45 mold that comes in at 165grs
now if you imagine a round ball cut in half with the nose and sides flattened you have a picture of the mold.
it does have some bearing surface.
and it actually does shoot rather well I can ding 100 yd gongs with it pretty easily.
and I keep some on hand when deer hunting to snipe grouse with.
but I have not pushed it hard at all.
5 grs of clays is the only load I have ever used under it except in the 45 acp then 6 grs of unique is enough
[no 6 grs of unique will not operate the slide on a 1911 but it shoots well in the 624]
so it has to be stable and I can head shoot grouse if I can hold still enough.

Rick I'll agree with the wad cutter being relatively short range but it doesn't need to be slow.
ramping one up into the 1200+ area is simple enough and they will still cut clean holes in the target at 25yds.
maybe not 125yds but at 50 they will for sure.
one of my favorite loads is with the federal match magnum sp primer and 6 grs of unique with the 148gr lyman 091 on top.
that is not going slow in the least.
but I'm pretty sure it starts losing a ton of velocity and stability somewhere between 75 and 100 yds.

My experience with cap & ball revolvers AND front-loader rifles has been that roundballs shoot a WHOLE LOT better than do conicals in both platform types.
