Ben, yes PB molds are great and are even more versatile as PB gas checks can be fitted if required.

BTW I have been able to get checks from Shamus Sage, PB and regular, recently.

They had a few in stock at mid south shooter I believe, price wasn’t horrible. That was sometime early in the week.

At large, whereabouts unknown.
I've always kept a few boxes of each size I commonly use on hand. Sages has some of the larger sizes available.

«Out of stock».... maybe the three worst words in the English language.
But with plain base moulds, check makers and powder coat- we’ll be allright!

As long as I can get pillow ticking I'll be alright at a minimum. Years of just sucking it up and adding one box of checks to virtually every order from my usual mail-order shooting supply houses has paid off. I don't miss the money now even though I sometimes did at the time. When checks went north of $30/1K I stopped buying them because I have a lathe and some scrap 4140 round bar and a kiln and some Kingsford charcoal. Oh, and a sheaf of green bar printer paper.

I'm thinking now I'd better stock up on powder coating powder, but at least shooters are not the primary consumers of that stuff so there should be plenty around.

I‘m the silent partner of a custom finishing business and we do quite a bit of PC so have quite a few pounds on hand at any time. Have not experienced any difficulties getting powder and don’t expect to.

Kingsford charcoal.
On a side note. Kingsford has two plants in the USA. One of the is a half mile down the road from my house. That plant has ran 24-7 for as long as I can remember.....

At the casting bench in the sky. RIP Bret.
Ben, I just got done reading that plain base bullets always lead the barrel unless they are HARDCAST, and even then you can't push them more than 800 fps or use them in any rifle! It's on the internet, it's got to be TRUE!!!

Bret4207 :

An " expert " today ( or so they think ) in cast bullets is anyone with a computer, keyboard and internet capability. Scientific fact seems not to matter anymore, Opinions.......now that is another thing entirely.
