Gas Checks Unavailable

Ha...........Never say never.

I decided to try a PB 311 299 in my Remington 700 VS .308, I believe it was pushed along with 9.3 grains of Universal, the load produced a 3/8" group and continues to do so, so much so I stopped using it for awhile.

And made me look bad.

THAT WILL NEVER HAPPEN BEN, BESIDES IT WAS A 1/2" GROUP

Oh my! Man I'm happy for you. I love seeing that when you go down range to get the target.

Is that the 30 hunter bullet?

Tell ya what--I like it when small groups become "boring". Bore me some more!

Over time. I have made less and less use of gas checks for my cast bullet loading. I have never been much of a velocity-worshipper, other than with the 22-250 and other rat strafers. Some of those Kopper Kondor Kuddlers REALLY can get sent downrange fast, even in the 22 Hornet. It remains to be seen whether accuracy follows in their wake.

I totally "get" the low-node/moderated-velocity mindset. One of my happiest acquisitions recently was the Lyman two-banger #366408, the plain-based Loverin for the 9.3mm calibers. Early in the game with my CZ-550 in 9.3 x 62 a member at the Previous Dynasty sent me about 150 samples of that design. MY GOODNESS, those samples sized .367" shot LIGHTS OUT between 1100 and 1400 FPS--on the order of 1.2"-1.5" at 100 yards.

I'm with you Allen, I never get tired of rifles or handguns that shoot tight groups.

I give up. 1/2" group with a 03 Rock Island Springfield, at 100 yards with no scope, a plain base bullet, from fixed ammo? I give up, my efforts are futile. Outstanding results! I'm goin' fishin'.
