Got a call from my Class III dealer today

I was surprised to hear when, about 11 years ago, a group (headed up by my Class 3 dealer) went to the Legislature and
asked for the laws against all NFA items be revised. What they got was all of them erased.:D:D
Talking to my dealer, the dealer group was as surprised (and pleased) as anyone.

When we got CCW and none of the bad things that had been widely predicted happened, the dam broke on
gun control in KS. Over the next 13 years they erased all our gun and knife laws entirely.

Ian - 'refer to the criminal code'...so what is OK, what is not OK?

Ian,
California and Texas must use the same group of lawyers.

So, your can should come with the .578x28 pston if you ordered the .45 version. The linear decoupler for use with Browning actions is standard. Fixed-barrel adapters and conversions to other calibers/threads are optional accessories, not the other way around.

I found that link Bill, can get an application for a permit there but no info on if a permit is still needed.

State bureaucrats. IME, are nothing if not slow. I expect that eventually that will be fixed. Maybe a
polite call to the "non-emergency contact line" for the State Police would get an answer.

OK Ian, then I think it should just screw right on to the Dan Wesson and be ready to go.
Will pick it up tomorrow.

Prolly need to grease the spring and piston first (that's what Liberty says with their similar system) but yeah, basically.

Before traveling I usually find concealed carry info on the state patrol web pages. Usually bookmark them and/or screenshot pertinent pages jic.

First I've heard that AR has permitless or even open carry. I wouldn't recommend it...........unless your willing to fight it in the courts. Can't legally carry a knife, with blade over 3", when you have a CC license. With a license you are limited in what type of pistol you can carry, depending on what you qualify with. Qualify with a revolver and all you can carry is a revolver......permit only good for three years. Qualify with a semi and you can carry either or.....permit good for five years. Kind of a no brainer, to qualify with a semi auto. In fact most instructors will have a semi auto 22 for those that bring revolvers.

Since I moved here, there have been yearly organized protests for open carry. The authorities will have a presence but don't enforce the no open carry laws. It's so easy to get a permit, why open carry? Attend a class, pay your fees, shoot a magazine full and in @ 30 days your license shows up in the mail. BTW, Arkansas has no laws pertaining to printing, so it's not illegal.

Cindy and I renewed our permits, last Fall. There is a short class, mostly about changes to the laws, then shoot for requalification. Nothing said about right to open carry. Just after that the license fees were cut by fifty percent.

According to the article, (EDIT) no - this was a court case on open carry --was part of the new law signed
by the governor in March. The new law was for NFA items, the original topic.

Again, I won't use open carry, but it is a good symbol. But it is a news article and may very well be inaccurate.

Kansas cancelled all the knife laws a few years ago, too. So if you have a burning desire to play D'Artagnan
and carry a sword, have at it in Kansas. Some do carry sheath knives., I have seen a few. I normally carry an
automatic knife (switchblade) just because I can. Pretty much like the normal thumb knives I have, a 3" ish
blade working knife.

The roofing crew arrived just now. New roof today. Currently 75F, supposed to be partly sunny, max out
at 88 or so this afternoon. Should be a good day for roofing. I will NOT be helping. :)

Advantage of the permit is less local hassle and its good in states with reciprocity agreements. Missouri has open carry and permitless vehicle carry..............I don't know how that affects non residents. Not going to chance it, either.

OK, the new law wsa for NFA items. The open carry thing was a court case clarifying the law, and was in 2018.

And yes, I am very careful to understand state gun laws and not run afoul of them by ignorance. And that means
I stay entirely out of certain states, fortunately mostly not places I wanted to go anyway.

The normal phrase used for the Kansas Constitutional Carry law is "anyone who can legally possess a firearm may
carry it openly or concealed." I think "anyone" is non-residents, too.

From the link....................

Arkansas is a Constitutional Carry state. A person does not need to have a permit to carry a pistol. But permits are useful for reciprocity in other states. Arkansas is a “Shall Issue” state. The state issues permit to people who meet the objective criteria for the permit.

Ambiguous and open for interpretation............doesn't specify concealed carry, or even open carry. Could only mean carry in your vehicle..........which was legal, if your on a journey. They can't even agree on the definition of a journey. :headbang:

Pick up the phone and call the State Police and see if they have an information sheet or something.
In most states "Constitutional Carry" means that the laws restricting carrying a weapon have been
pretty much all cancelled, but often with some of the "place" limits remaining, like courts, voting
places, schools, maybe churches. But in general, the term means that they have opened it up
to open, concealed, etc.

BUT, check with State Police and/or State AG's office before you "assume".

I picked up the Ti-Rant 45 this AM, greased the piston, removed the barrel from the Dan Wesson
1911 and screwed them together. From either end, all looked perfectly concentric, so removed the
can, reassembled the 1911 and screwed the can on with a touch of grease on the threads.
I set up steel plates on the edge of the parking pad, and took them down. The plate hit and falling
on concrete is FAR louder than the gun. I fired two into the backstop just for unimpeded

listening purposes. Nice. No problems at all without hearing protection. The gun seems to
hit where the sights look, too. Will do groups when I can get around better, still a bit stiff and
slow. 100% function, brass ejected reasonably, 4-5 ft away. No probs at all.

It was a week ago today that the surgery was done. I am still pleased, still nothing more
that tylenol needed, although there is a definite "cranky" period in the morning when I get up,
and it is still stiff. Did some hard PT yesterday, and think it made it stiffer today. But no pain,
no gain. I need to get up and move around and exercise to loosen it up. Inactivity stiffens
it up.

FWIW, Arkansas, recently (last Fall) passed an enhanced concealed carry license. Ability to carry in places that are banned by the regular CC permit. Involves taking another 8 hour class and subsequent fees. We didn't opt for it, since we don't frequent, those places. Mainly, schools and college campuses. Places of worship are up to the pastors. Municipal buildings are limited to employees.

Just another reason I find it hard to believe Arkansas now has unrestricted carry. Not that it matters to us, since were good for another five years.

I was getting a more CLANKKK!!! from the plates, shooting some Rem Ball. Takes down 8" steel plates
with authority. Way louder than anything else going on.

Yep, winelover, you are already good to go, no ambiguities. I am sure that the facts will steadily reveal
themselves.

Time to start powder coating some 200 SWCs methinks. Good project while knee rehabs or too much time on feet? I know the Tirant can be disassembled for cleaning (unlike my Liberty Miranda) but if you don't have to deal with crusty lead deposits in the first place....why?

I actually had to consider soft backstops for some of my silenced stuff, the bolters and leverguns are nearly silent but the bullet impacts are definitely not. Even when hunting with full-power factory .308 and using a suppressor the solid "THWHOCK" of a good broadside hit is clearly audible from nearly 200 yards away behind the rifle.

Yeah, I may do some experiments with PC soon. Leg elevated, iced right now, so not real soon. Walking is OK, and standing, too. Lifting and carrying is not too good right now.
I should pull it apart to see what's inside.
