Got to soon old and to late smart

For the oldtimers on this and other gun forms, you may have noticed that I have not posted much in the last year. The reason being a number of pesky health concerns.
About 7 months I was diagnosed with Age Related Macular Degeneration (AMD), in my left eye. Vision had deteriorated to over 20/100, and I see a reitanoligist every 30- days for a shot in the eye. Vision at present is running about 20/70. 20 years ago I would just have gone blind in that eye. The good part of that is that it is the left eye, and I am right handed, and can still shoot. Have always had some back problems but they have gotten worse over the last year or two, but my chiorlpractor helps along with ICY Hot, and a decent quality lifting belt. My hearing has gotten no worse, but also no better. Am thankful that I have hearing aids can be adjusted and tuned. AND about 8 weeks ago, went in for my 6mo. check up, and was informed that I was Type II diabetic. He had been telling me for three years that I was pre diabetic. The good part of that is that the good Lord allowed me to reach 80, before I became diabetic, and I am extremely thankful for that. As a potter, I can still throw, glaze and fire pottery, and we are in 4 galleries, but no more shows. I can cast, reload, shoot, etc. Due to my better halfs medical problems we can no longer travel, but we are still pretty much active old codgers. Anyhow, that is why I have been Limited on this fourm for awhile. Now what the weather is getting better hope to get to the outdoor range more. Been doing the indoor range pretty regular, mostly once a week. Guess my bottom linr is "Getting old is just not for sissies."

Sept. 10, 2021 Steve left us. You are missed.
Keep the good attitude. I had noticed you had been kinda scarce.

Paul,
Hang in there the best you can. I am going in for a new knee in June, and my eyes have deteriorated a lot
from glaucoma, but apparently fairly stable right now.
Like you said. nothing easy about aging. Bits failing is no fun. "Hey, I was USING that!" doesn't help.

Paul,
Just making it to 80 is a mile stone in itself -- congratulations on that!! All the best to you.

I see a retina specialist, too, but the problems isn't as severe as yours, my hearing is almost non-existent without the VA provided hearing aids, and past close proximity to Agent Orange keeps the acquisition of Type II diabetes always in mind.

At least most of what ails ya is something that can be treated or controlled to a certain extent. Diabetes certainly, and I know about eye injections, and I find myself saying huh? a little more, but use it as long as you can. I know having a loved one with problems can often be harder on you than your own problems.

His hearing hasn’t gotten worse but it sure as hell isn't any better either.

I'm only 3 years behind you. Glasses, hearing aids, meds...signs of the time gone by...but we are still here.

You have certainly been conspicuous by your absence. Thought about PMing you or Brad to see how you were doing, but didn't want to intrude.

Comparing how you're doing at 80 to how I'm doing at 64, seems like you're doing pretty well for 80.

At the casting bench in the sky. RIP Bret.
My very best wishes for the best quality of life possible. Getting older isn't fun, but it sure beats the alternative!
