GP100 Dimensions for 44 Special

I have always equated the 44 special to the 45 acp, it just has a bit better penetrating ability due to the length of the bullet.

Youze guys are like my wife who tries to complicate life all the time. Briefs or boxers. If boxers, the stretch kind or lose. short leg, mid thigh, or knee length. Well, as a result, I don't wear underwear. I have TP in every bathroom of the house to ensure that underwear isn't necessary.

When I pick up the SB, RH, or 629, I gotta wear a belt AND suspenders. When I drop a round in a chamber, that round goes BOOM, …. not poof. I got poofers for that. The 625s do real well cept they are like a Yugo in that they will give ya what they can & that's it. After that you gotta open the door & do a Fred Flintstone if you wanna go faster. Takes a spotter guy if ya gotta drop one in, say beyond 30 yds. So they are perpetual poofers. And I don't bend over, (see the underwear segment above) to pick up brass, it's undignified.

If Elmer had had 296 powder, there wouldn't be a 44 Mag. The 44 Special can be a 44Mag level performer or a poofer and a belt works just fine for all day portability. A quality built / dimensioned double action & the 625s wouldn't be needed anymore. So that's what I'm thinkin. Guess I gotta go look for one myself & take some different size slugs with me. You guys just confuse life.

who was it that said you gotta find out for yerself?:p

the sucky thing about me not having one of these is it would round out my Ruger 44 special revolver quintet.
the real sucky thing about it is it would cut into me shutting down the outlay of cash until I find out whether I have to pay uncle sam some tax money or not.
you'd think a guy with no job and no income would have a zero tax liability but,,, NO.
if we manage to break even or slightly in favor one way or the other, there might be some room in the bank account for one of these if the new boat motor doesn't suck it all in.
on the other hand I could get totally hosed and have to get a job.

My 44 special loads are not near the Skeeter load. I am using 4.5 gr of Titegroup and get a 265 gr swc to a nice 750 FPS. For my needs that is plenty.
I wouldn’t mind another 44 special.

Odd that I rarely use 357 mag cases in my 357s? Other than the 92 Win they almost never see a mag case.

The 92 gets only mag cases as it can’t easily be cleaned from the breach to remove the ring of crud at the end of the case.

My 357s usually get a nice 158 swc at 800 FPS.

they are fairly simple to tear down if you don't get carried away.
but they ain't Marlin pull the bolt out the back easy.

They are also a pain in the ass to put back together if you do get carried away. Trust me.

Marlin is so much better in this regard.

My Rossi/EMF Hartford gets .357 Mag. only, just so I don't have to disassemble it to remove a crud ring.

I went way beyond that. I went bare bones. There are a couple little bits that need to be just right to get the magazine cutoff to work. Don’t ask how I know....

My 3” GP100 44 special has .433 throats but no thread choke. I size .4325 cast with 50/50 air cooled and lubed with SL71B. Loaded with HP38 or Bullseye it is very accurate for a 3” gun. I get no leading and have not cleaned the barrel since I started shooting it. Only thing I’ve done is swap out the trigger return spring.

Yeah, I've seen his videos and have concluded he does nothing else in life but fiddle with that rifle.

notice he stopped at 2 screws,,,,, LOL.

I have one just like in the video in 44 mag, I'd really like to have one in 357.
not a new one with a 1-30 twist 355 diameter barrel [thanks Taurus you butt holes] but one of that same time frame,,, same as mine.

I guess I could try to get this back to the 44 special by saying I do shoot 44 specials in mine.
the LEE T/L 240gr SWC on top of 4.1grs. of titegroup does shoot nice.
I should buy that mold maybe once I run out of them... naw.. I got others.

I have a Browning .44 Mag 92 - never been all apart.
Looks like he has done that more than once before.:)

Thank you gman, very kind.

What's wrong with discussing 357s? I use mine for squirrels. And the other is my original finish, 35 Remy. Both are 358. Great considering I've heard bores up to .364 for the Marlins of this period. Gun has fired just 60 shots. Was a Christmas gift in 1950 to a fella that never returned from Korea. S/N 20XX. :)

Had an ephifiny covering mixes, hardness, how they size from .001 to say .006. If I can find the correlation I’m expecting, then I will try to present it logically. It’s kind of involved, but I am going to try your load as part of it cause I need a low pressure load to go with 20-1 for a 240 grainer.

you might need to work it a touch for your bullet etc..
I gave that load to Brad iirc he ended up at 4.5grs.

I just swapped it over from my 41 mag, where I was using the lyman 210 SWC+-
gas check bullet without the gas check

My 624 does very nicely with the NOE 503 at 265 gr and 4.5 gr of Titegroup.
