I got home today from the Tulsa Gun Show.
This was the only thing in the show that really interested me.
Shooting .30 cal. cast bullets should be fun with this one.
Tell me what you think.
New in the box, unfired.
Ruger # 1, 30-30 Win, Brushed Stainless

Already home? Damn man, you left early!

See anything else that perked your ears?

Jim,

The 30-30 Win. and the 30-40 Krag for cast bullet shooters are both long time favorites. The long case neck of those two rounds is a real natural pairing with cast bullets. I have about 25 + thirty cal. bullet moulds. This should be fun.

Beautiful rifle Ben! I’ll bet it will pleasant to shoot, pertaining to both recoil and accuracy.
Enjoy!

I'm really looking forward to shooting this one.
Right now , it is an un-fired rifle.
I bought it NIB.

Quite nice Ben, I think I would have had to bring that one home also.

Rick,

I have a nice clean Rem. 788 in 30-30 already.
It shoots great.
However, there aren't very many of
these stainless Ruger # 1's in 30-30 Winchester.
I thought I better get it ( while the getting was good ) .

Oh, yes! I would have been ALL OVER that example.

I'm not sure what your sighting choices are going to be for this new rifle, but be aware that Ruger offers 3 front sight post heights for their front sights housed like this example shows. Most rifles come with the "Medium" post installed. The posts dismount via a spring detent at the front of the post, and slide out forward. I made good use of an NEGC rear aperture sight that installed in the rear scope mount dovetail, in concert with those Ruger front sight posts. (Ruger #1 in 45/70).

Thanks Allen,

I " pondered " all the way back home from Tulsa about optics ? ?
I still have not finalized on what I want to do.

Sadly I would need to put a scope on it. Either that or have a beautiful wall hanger. :( Ah for the good ole days.

Rick,

I'll be 70 in Sept.
My eyes are certainly not what they were in my early twenties.
My scopes are " saving my bacon " right now.

Ben, it was a pleasure to finally get to meet you and hang out at the show with you. Learned a lot just walking the rows with you. Your knowledge of what works and what doesn’t is amazing.

Had a blast at the show with ya even if you bought my rifle out from under me. LoL. Beautiful rifle. I’m sure you will put it through it’s paces soon. Be sure and let us here know how it does.

Scott,

Likewise for me.
Most fun I've had at a gun show in a long time.
Good friends, good guns, good fun.
A great day.

Ben

( Oh, by the way........I'm very sorry about your " deer " friend )

My deer friend is going to be a thorn in my back side this week. Can't wait to hear what my insurance man is going to say about the 5 airbags deploying with so minimal damage to the outside of the truck.

I'm more sore from the air bags than anything. They are no joke.
