"OK, OK, I'm going as fast as I don't want to go!"
Not going to apologize for starting this early.

Gonna be away from my phone tomorrow morning and I just wanted all you guys to know that Father's are truly appreciated!

I hope you get a new gun or box of ammo or at least a kiss from a pretty woman! I get my kiss tonight as I'm at LAX picking up my wife I haven't seen in two months.

Happy Father's Day .

My Dad always sold himself short on the upbringing he gave me . Mom Dad contributed some , forgiving mostly . But my Dad taught me the color of ones skin means nothing but they tan darker .....or not . He taught me right from wrong , how and when to stand you ground . If you're right and you have to stand ground ....... Well do what's necessary .
He also taught me to be generous and kind and to help those that couldn't help themselves . That sometimes folks need just a little help to find their feet .
Sure he had his faults and perhaps actual forgiveness was among them . He changed a lot late in his life , he said several times he didn't know how I became the Dad I did but that he was proud of me for doing so .
At the end he asked if I had anything I wanted to tell him . I guess I was all talked out when said "Dad it's okay to go , I'll be here to do the heavy lifting . You were my mentor."
In hindsight it was a bit of a Gump moment "if I'd knowed it'd be the last thing I said to him Ida said something more important ." I figure he got the point .

I'm very proud of my sons, so maybe that means I haven't been a bad father.
Oldest son works for one of the largest commercial truck dealers in the U.S.. Just got another promotion and raise.
Middle son ("College Boy") just earned his Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering and just returned to his west coast home from a university sponsored "Formula SAE" competition at the Michigan International Speedway.
Youngest son has earned his A.S. degree and is more than half way to his Bachelor's degree. He lives with us and is an incredible help around the place.

I'd say you have won the lottery as far as having good kids. But I'll bet you cheated and raised them right to begin with.

My son called and and we had a nice long conversation. He has moved on from being an industrial electrician working in refineries to working for PG&E (Pacific Gas and Electric) doing all the electrical stuff involved with construction and maintenance of its sub-stations. Instead of working with 240-Volts it's now 27,000-Volts, but he no longer has to climb 300-plus-foot high smoke stacks wearing fire-proof clothing and a myriad of safety gear in order to change light bulbs, or work in coker pits that almost instantly corrode his tools.

Later, my daughter* called and said to check my e-mail, I did and there was an Amazon notification of a gift card. Every year I tell her she doesn't have to do that, but she does it anyway and I end up with a new book.

They're good kids and I love them.

*At some forgotten point in our 40 1/2 year relationship she stopped referring to me as her step-dad and I stopped referring to her as my step-daughter.

Well I got a call from my 53 year old step son first thing in the morning. Nice! I have raised Tommy from the age of 6, and it’s been rocky at times but I always knew that he was troubled by me being with his Mom and me, and not with his nasty Dad. Never said a bad word about his Dad, generally tried to say positive things or nothing at all. Always remained positive and just treated him as much like he was mine from the start.
Well that started to pay off when got into his late teens and the payoffs got bigger the older Tommy got. He started to figure out that his Dad is a class “A” jerk and azz hole.
Well fast forward and Tommy attributes his morals and work ethics to me and looks to me as “Pop”. It’s quite a complement to say the least. So the patience with Tommy and the tolerance of his old man paid off big time. Really wanted to beat the crap out of his Dad and came close more then once. One of us would have been in the hospital and the other in jail. But I was “good” with Tommy and Karyn in mind.
I don’t even think of Tommy as anything but my son, and I believe he feels the same. He is pretty mush estranged from his Dad by choice.
Anyway he’s a great Dad and has a great couple of my Grandkids who have both graduated from WSU. Good guy.

Well my second Son sent me a text about midday and finally called after dinner. Of course first thing I had to point out that Tommy had called first thing in the morning. He’s a great Son as well and really a great Dad to his 3 littles, 8,9, and 11. He’s a far better Dad then I.
Very proud of them both.

Have to boast a little bit. "College Boy's" team, "Bruin Racing" scored the highest they've ever scored in 17 years of "Formula SAE" competition; 5th place out of a field of 48 entries. There were actually nearly 100 entrants, but about half didn't pass the 2-1/2 days of inspections.
He says UCLA will almost certainly allocate a higher budget for Bruin Racing next year because of this.
