No sweet potatoes/yams on menu, today. Rick won't eat them. We eat them frequently............baked, candied or French fried.

I think it's my mothers fault for forcing that nasty stuff down my throat before i was big enough to fight back.

Got some pork loin on the smoker. Think ribs with no bones.

Best pies are pumpkin, made from fresh pumpkin please, and apple.

do you know how much time and work is involved with making a pumpkin pie from scratch?
even from a can is an ordeal not worth the effort.

I have all the stuff here to make a quick 'mincemeat' pie, but I'm pretty positive the jar contains no real meat.

Baking and purée the pumpkin. Done it a few times, it is a lot of work. But in my opinion it is well worth the effort.

Happy Thanksgiving to all the forum members and their families, even those who live in Norway and Canada!

Daughter is doing dinner for eight, locally.
Son, 125-miles North, is doing dinner for an unknown number, but at least five.

Yep, fruit pies are the number one dessert.

Pumpkin pie is my second favorite. Lemon meringue is first.

I love them in a brown sugar sauce. I believe that maybe you're candied version. Server them up hot and spoon the sauce over everything. Turkey, ham, stuffing, broccoli puff, and anything else on your plate. Can't be beat.

Rick you I'm sure have the absolute best Mother in the world, but, she should have kept after it. It's left you with a serious deficiency in the Thanksgiving department. Obviously your mileage does very.

Happy Thanksgiving to all you fine folks! We have Thanksgiving on October 10. October 10 coincides with the opening of the immature bull Moose season, so I was at my son's house in Quesnel BC. Spent 2 weeks up there but the son who was not tied up with work screwed his back up so it turned into a 2 week visit. I got to see my 8 year old Great Grandson, his Mom and both my boys, so trip was a success!

Sept. 10, 2021 Steve left us. You are missed.

Happy Thanksgiving guys.
Wife made way too much food yesterday, and we did it all again today. Just us two and my youngest son. My youngest daughter was going to have it all at her house, but the covid advisory spooked her, she is a county nurse, and has a new baby at home.
We are leaving Sunday for a week of pheasant hunting with my oldest son and two grandsons, and the left overs are coming with us.
I gave Cash (my Springer)) his first hair cut yesterday! That was a rodeo, but it was needed so he didn't get packed full of cockle burs while hunting. He doesn't look too bad, but he won't be featured in Glamour magazine! LOL
