I meant CW. How many presses does he have set up with a single shellholder?

Maybe I’m the odd one with a single turret press and a single Dillon?

Unscrew the core pins. Kind of different on how they are made. I made a couple inserts for mine but coul not get the slugs to release. If I do it again I will put a taper into it to help get the slug to release.

Use so many? How many presses do you have set up?
Good point Fiver!! I have 4/5 more presses under the bench unused too. ;)

Setup on three benches, I have six set up. Two Dillon 550's and three single stages. (One is a Lyman American Turret & )

But primers neck turners and trimers all also use them. Its easier for me to have extra then stop another process to borrow a SH. :)

Didn’t think of trimmer or neck turner, likely because mine are very rarely used?

I have been processing alot of cases lately. (Busy work stuck @ home with bum knee) Its something I can do seated at the bench.

HiTek mould release. Works very well and keeps the strain off you pulling those pins.

If ya watch the vid. I was amazed heat was all that was needed to get these slugs to pop right off!!

I admit, I was worried!!

I cast up most all of a 20# pot of soft lead with the Paradox slugs.
Last week I received a package from a friend. Inside was his "Fire Hydrant" slugs. So a portion of these are for him.
Im still sourcing proper screws for the Botfly slugs. I bought a box of #6 - 1/2" but the pan head is too big. SO...Need ta try something different.

maybe a wood screw would sink in flat.
or a pre-beveled hole is needed?
I am gonna try that, the pan head #6 is good size but dia of that head.... is the issue.

SO, I have a slug in my pocket. Ill stop later today or tomorrow, into a hardware store, and for sure will find one!!

Cw,
I looked hard at the Bot fly slug when I got the Paradox. I’m just not understanding the concept / need for a fragmenting slug in a shotgun. I’m not wanting the slug to fragment in a deer nor windshield, so opted for the paradox style. I’m actually pretty happy with the performance and accuracy of the Lee 7/8 oz slug in a 12 bore now, and have yet to load any of the heavy Paradox slugs yet.
I’m really happy with the 16 ga. In the sabot style slug from the Russian mould and the BPI z16 wad combo.
I’m just guessing, but foresee the Botfly doing excessive damage in a deer. I’d be real interested to see what they actually do on a broadside shot.

The BRO boys down in So Carolina have loaded and shot these for a couple years now.

At face value I agree with you. But most folks experience with fragmentation allo was a super sonic velocity. Altho these can just make super velocity at best they are trans sonic. Couple this with HARD lead and you get a wound channel this just might be "better" for some situations where less penetration with good preformance is needed. I look at it more as a defensive use projectile maybe vermin.

yeah,,, I'd be looking at some hand gun hollow point alloys since the velocities will be similar.
and then maybe cheating up the tin a titch to compensate for the little more speed.

We have even machined some brass and copper 12g slugs, tried some of the Lehigh designs - I love my rifles but if I had to chose only1 gun it would be a shotgun..... Pretty much the only gun you can shoot just about anything out of (within reason) without worrying about it blowing up in your face. Easy to reload and given the right load you can hunt anything with it.

True dat.................. as long as you can keep shots less than 100 yards. Especially, foster type slugs. I never felt handicapped in the shotgun only areas.
