help finding a powder scale

Trust but verify: I wonder if your magnetic damper on your scales have collected dust etc. The two Ohaus scales don't take long to measure. My time may be deceptive since I use a trickler. The exception was measuring powder charges from a 550. No real problem there. I use the weights and also keep the beam scales as a backup.

The only cleaning instructions I recall is to use a piece of paper to wipe down the blade portion. I'd take the beam out and use an alcohol rub to clean pieces. I have to remember for myself a watched pot never boils.

I own and use both mechanical scales and digital scales. They both have their place.

A digital scale is handy for a quick check to confirm a weight (like to check a powder measure that is set up for a specific load) or to sort several similar items by weight.

A mechanical scale gives you a little more visual reassurance that it’s working correctly (no black box magic that you must trust) but a check weight is still your friend for both types.

And it might be a generational thing as well. My Grandfather would perform mathematical functions with a calculator and then check the calculator with his OWN math. :)

On a dampened scale, you really need to use a trickler for the best result. You should always tickle up to the correct weight. You will find inconsistency if you let it overshoot. Not always, but enough times to cause issues if you are going for little bug holes.
