Henry single shot now in 30/30 & .357

I'd be interested too if I didn't already have a pair of Savage 219s. Might be another good candidate for .357 Max conversion....or maybe .358 Winchester??? The steel version is offered in .308 Win. so the action strength is not an issue.

They need to make their lever-action .223 in a .300 Blackout, with a threaded muzzle. Just sayin'.

I'd like to see it done in 7.62X39 with a 308 barrel.
especially since I have a big o'l box of brand new brass, a die set, and a mold but no rifle.

I’m almost sure I’ll have to pick one of these up. I was really hoping they would release one in 30-30.

Hopefully they hit the shelves a little quicker than the first ones did. A single shot allows you a lot of options when messing with cast bullet loads. My 357 max has almost 2000 shots through it.

Did you have a 357 rechambered? I want to but I don’t have anyone local to do it.

Bench vise, t-handle tap wrench, Max chamber reamer, and a little oil is all you need. Mount barrel straight up, let reamer cut under its own weight, stop when the rim cutter touches the fully-lowered extractor rim. Be careful not to induce any side loads to the reamer and you got it made.

Well, it's about time!

Now that I gave up and bought Contenders in 357 Mag, Max, 223 and 30-30.

Anyone who thinks Ian's treatment of the task of extending a Mag chamber to Max seems a little nonchalant, he's not playing it down. The first one is a bit nervy, but you realize then that it's just what he says. If you are capable of exercising any amount of care and attention, it's something you can do yourself. That's coming from a guy (me) who has to wait for just the right day to work up the nerve to D/T a barrel or receiver and takes up to a day and a half to get it set up for a few seconds' work.

I believe the Henry would fit me better than the Contenders, but I'm vested in terms of time, money and adaptation. The Henry Single Shot is one of the few guns that tempt me even the least little bit to expand my shrunken battery. Before I invested in the Contenders, I would have bought two 357 Henrys and made one a Max. A 30-30 always has a place in my home/on my homestead.

If wishes were horses, and Henry wanted to drive me into the asylum, they'd offer this in the 222 Remington now. I think I'd have to cancel my Internet service and pretend none of it ever happened.

I ordered a 16.5” MGM encore barrel and had the chamber cut to my specs and my dummy round which was a loaded RCBS 35-200.

When I can do my part it shoots well. Here’s a 100yd group with a high magnification scope used for load development.

The problem with that load is me lol

Some days I can do that and others it’s a 1 1/4” group. I chased down things in my reloading for about six months thinking there was some inconsistencies.

I’ve pretty much decided it was just me. The rifle also likes the NOE 360-180GC if you size it to .358 so the band in front of the cannelure can engrave slightly.
