HERCO POWDER

I haven’t used Herco in over a decade. Even then it was only occasionally in shot shells.

Quick look thru a couple Older manuals didn’t show much.

I bought some powder from a friend of a friend. (All older cans but factory sealed and past smell test)

I now have three pounds of Herco.

it’s too good to dump on lawn. But gotta search some other older manuals and see if I can find some load to utalize this powder.

any one have suggestions?

5.5 in 45 ACP with everything over 195 under 250 gr ?
Should be good for 45 S&W 250s at 6 gr ? For a recut 45 ACP cylinder .

One of my most used 38 Special loads was a 358477 over 5.5 gr Herco. Did 915-975 fps from a Diamondback 6" and Python 6". Accurate load. 4.5 gr under Lee 158 FN ran 750 fps from my GP100 6" & also shot well.

The 5 1/2" New Vaquero likes 5.5-grains of Herco and the Lee 358-158 RNFN -- a light and accurate load.

I like 7grs. under the lyman 358665 using 357 cases in my little lever rifle.
it's a nice easy to shoot load, dang loud in a revolver though.
the 44 mag also likes Herco, 8-10grs under a 240gr bullet is a pretty good all-round load.
you can go more [meh] but by 11, I figure it's time to be moving along to A-2400.
