HM² 455-200-1

I recently bought this used 4 cav alum mold (HM² 455-200-1) from the other site, I haven't received it yet.
This will be my third HM² mold, I really like his block design.
Mostly I plan to load this one in 45acp for my Ruger All American (semi-auto), since that gun will not cycle the H&G 68 clone (or any SWC design) that I originally wanted to shoot through it. I'm hoping it doesn't drop as large as the name indicates...I sure would like it to be .452

Fiver, do you know, was this originally designed for 45 Colt?

They made molds in different diameters, a .452 version for .45 ACP, the .455 does drop in that diameter in wheelweights for older .45 Colts to reduce recoil for the SASS Cowboy Action guys.

The mold arrived today.
I gave it the toothbrush/hot water/dishsoap treatment.
and then melted some pistol range scrap (it's typically a bit softer than COWW)
and cast up about 300, I was just gonna cast 50 or so,,,the mold sure does cast easy.
they drop a hair under .454 which is better than 455 or the 456 which I feared (I guess I own too many NOE molds, LOL)
I sure do love the HM² molds.

HM2 is no longer in business, but Accurate produces a clone 45-200B which is very close. It can be ordered in various nose lengths, truncating the ogive to lighten the bullet and produce a larger meplat, as shown on the notations upper right of the drawing below: 45-200B-D.png

sorry I totally missed this thread Jon.
Outpost got it though.

Magma also makes,, well makes,, not really a copy, since they been making it for over 30 years that I know of.
it comes with a rounded ''hardball'' nose though.

the accurate copy is some close but the nose shape is different.
compare the measurements from the drive band forward you'll see.

Bumping up this old thread.
I want to see if the 10 lb ingots I got from Kevin will fit in my Lee 20lb pot...and we'll see how his alloy casts with this HM² 455-200-1 mold. I'd like to load up some 45 acp ammo yet this year.

you ever decide to sell the 30 let me know.
I need to check some things out (and re-think things) as I've been meaning to actually sell all my 30 cal molds (there is a bunch of them) after I sell my only remaining 30 cal rifle. It almost sold at the local Sept gunshow, but the negotiations went sideways (it's kind of a fun story, that I may have already posted ?)
ANYWAY, after that failed sale, I kind of thought I don't need to sell the rifle to part with a fistfull of molds...and a drawer full of jacketed bullets...I can just put the Rifle into cold storage and let my Daughter sell it when I die.
