Looks like Hodgdon bought Accurate and Ramshot powders.
Will be interesting to see what changes come to the manufacturing location for Accurate powders. Will also be interested to see what powders disappear.

Hmmm . . . another gun-related shakeup.
Waiting for the third shoe to drop.

Tomme boy posted that IMR 4320 is no more.

Alliant is now pretty much the only reliably available powder not controlled by Hodgdon.
I like Alliant powders, but I also liked Accurate powders and could have got along just fine with only the two of them.

I didn't like it when hodgdon took over winchester and IMR's powders and I like this even less.

The monopoly thing kinda sucks, and some powders are going to disappear ....
However, my local dealer, before just carried Hodgdon and IMR.
Now he will have a few Accurate powders to choose from on the shelf.
He likes it because it is letting him open up to a wider variety of powder for his customers, without taking on another source. So on the positive side it does help the little guy gun shop.
I would have had to order on line and pay hazmat fees or drive 35 miles to get it.
Now, if I want Accurate or Ramshot, I just have to let him know and wait a week. Course I have tried neither yet, but now I have better access for when I do.
Plus I can get Westerns Black Horne 209 now thru him. That is my favorite rifle black powder. I go thru that like mad. ( I duplex it with Pyrodex RS in in flash paper cartridges with a perforated flash paper separator, in my non 209 type bp's .) So now I can get RS and 209 in the same place.

I started using Accurate powders in the late 70s or early 80s because they were significantly cheaper than DuPont, Winchester, and Hercules. As they evolved from a surplus repackager to contracting for new production the prices became similar to the old line companies and my interest in them waned.

I still use in Accurate #5 and #7 in specific cartridges. I had some affection for A 3100 but that seems to be out of production. I’ve had no interest in Western powders, the new IMR powders, and most of the new Hogdon powders.

I think as long as the Hodgdon family is running the show things will be ok, but I still am unhappy about them discontinuing 4759 and PB. In the end we’ll take what they offer.

The reloading side of the business is tiny compared to the commercial side. Casters, especially rifle bullet casters are a minuscule part of that tiny market.

I use Ramshot TAC in the 223 and Big Game in 250 Sav and 7-08 with some loads. Have plenty so it won't effect me much

I've got 16 lbs of TAC for my 223/5.56 and over 16 lbs. of Unique for my pistols, so I guess I'm set.
Might need a few more lbs of AA1680 for the 7.62x40.

heh no.
1680 was the replacement for Winchesters 680.
you could get in the ball park with something else, but definitely not the same.
it slides into that slot where you get meh on one side and meah on the other.

I guess I'll have to stock up when I find some.
Not this month, though.
I spent too much getting ready for deer season!
Getting ready it half the fun!

it's close like BE-86 is close to Herco, A-410/AA-4100 is to 2400, and MP-300 is close to H-110.
one time yeah, one time no it burns a little faster.
I'd give it a definite probably, if I needed something in that burn speed though.

Shooters world blackout/lovex DO 63.
As far as Hodgdon purchase, like ruger/marlin - we'll get whatever they make/import that works. No reason to fret.

I'm going to have to amend Gear's Rules again to state "Hodgdon will buy out and then discontinue the only powder that produced good groups from your favorite rifle".

Guys, don't forget about Vhita.....

At large, whereabouts unknown.
Hodgdon has enough trouble keeping up with what they have. Their shipping capacity borders on atrocious, and now it will get worse. Too damn many eggs in too small of a basket. Sort of what happened to Remington and Cerebus.

Vihtavuori and Norma powders do not know of the existence of my part of the world.

Think that if I were to need a new powder to experiment with Shooter's World would get the nod. Powder Valley has most of their line available, and the price is very attractive. Interesting how a powder that is imported from Czechoslovakia costs considerably less than what is made in Florida or Quebec.
