Hogdon Clays

Rally

NC Minnesota
I got a jug in a deal last summer and have been using it in 7/8 oz slug loads in 12 ga. I don't believe I've ever used a powder so clean. Shoot 15-20 slugs through a gun and it still shines.

The clays powder I have is dusty green Ian.

You are speaking the truth Rally that stuff is super clean.
I load it for 45 acp swc loads and 38 spec loads very very clean and quite accurate.
I have 14# of it I got in a trade.

Green is ADI, the old stuff, made in Australia. New purple stuff is made in Canada. I like them both but the new stuff leaves scorch marks on brass like Titegroup and Longshot do. New powder technology.

Interesting the stuff I have leaves the brass spotless.
You could almost just reload it.
My ocd keeps that from happening thou.

I have burned a couple Pounds with very favorable results in my 40 with cast 145's @ 1000 fps. It was my competition recipe but my then new PCC didn't like that bullet and I didnt find accuracy with the new bullets using Clays. (NOT AWEFUL, Just not as good as Power Pistol out past 50 yards)

It was VERY LIGHT recoiling with many guys commenting it had less recoil then there 9mm's but noticeably better knocking steel esp the tall pepper Poppers. They had to hit high circle and head shots where iffy. I could hot below circle and topple.

Ill keep some Handy it was very clean.

Actually doing the math your 3 pounds would load over 5K rounds of 45 ACP.
Better get casting.

I wonder what's up with the scorching.
I shot clays and titegroup in the uber light loads just so I could keep loading and shooting without having to clean the cases.
I literally would walk out back and empty a bunch of ammo into the berm then walk in and run them through the Dillon 2-3 times a day at the place out in Grace.
probably got more dust on them than powder residue.

Been using it in 7/8 oz - 1 1/8oz 12ga loads since it came out about 30yrs ago.
Started using it in .45Colt Cowboy Loads about the same time. Leaves the brass cleaner then Titegroup.

it didn't need it.
it started clean and shiny and finished out the day that same way.
the cases never hit the ground unless I spilled them or something.

Well you could really tell the difference between the cases that came out of the Rifle and hit the ground and those that were ejected from the revolvers at the unloading table.
The rifle cases seemed to always collected more dirt then they should have.

yeah,,, drop a case on the ground here and it immediately becomes camouflaged, or buried if it's been dry for a few days.
