I skipped that step and went straight from Lyman 45s to powder coating. The tool I wish I'd invested in 20 years ago is a small metal lathe.

Getting a lathe is going down a rabbit hole like everything else we do, but it sure is handy. You can buy a pocket full of blanks from KeithB and whip up any size sizer you need with just some good drills, cheap boring bars, and some sandpaper.

Do you have the air attachment for lube pressure?

Making Star dies, and pushers, is pretty easy. Until I got my mill I drilled cross holes with a cordless drill.

The lathe also opens up a whole world of stuff casting related.

Nope,,but i sized about a 100 mp 275 clones,,and only pulled the pressure rod twice,,instead of every 3 bullets with the rcbs/lymans...

well heck walter send it back.

if you want the star to be good and fast you need all the bells and whistles.
i can zip out a bullet a second for 2000 bullets, only stopping to fill the lube tube and the feeder tubes.
luckily i got 20 tubes.

I don't think so! lol
No point in getting rid of such a nice tool. I'm sure it will come in handy at some point in time. I still shoot lubed bullets now and again.

I can't smelt lead from Galena ore or make brass cartridges, nitrocellulose, or reliable, safe priming compounds either. Doesn't mean I shoot rocks out of bamboo with gunpowder and flint.
