How to NOT anneal rifle brass....

Hard to know what temps he got to at the head, so may not blow up the gun, but sure is an
out of control, dangerous method that will surely oversoften the neck and shoulder area, and
risks weakening the head to the point of failure under pressure.

Bad news.

WACO has a good video using tempilaq temperature paint to show how to gauge temperature when annealing.
As far as water dropping hollow points--sometimes people have different uses or processes for their bullets. I water drop hollow points sometimes too. It all depends on what I'm going to do or how I want to use them. Sometimes I cast hollow points really hard for the purpose of getting that specific bullet profile with a lesser weight--and I don't need the expansion because I am just shooting steel plates. Sometimes I water drop the bullets to cool them down faster and I bake out the hardness when curing the powder coat in the oven. And other times I don't mind the fragmentation of the hollow points because I am using the bullets on milk jugs for big explosions, and not for controlled expansion on game--an hard, fragmenting hollow points do explode the milk jugs quite well.

There's bad advice, and there's dangerous advice. This guy falls under the latter. There is one guy on Boobtube who has an entertaining video on casting hollowpoint bullets, he casts them from wheelweights, then drops them in water to cool them so he can load right away. I wonder if that guy ever tried an expansion test on his shiny cast bullets.

that's just it.
you have a reason for doing what you do.
quite often others have a reason too, but they don't follow through to the end of the thought chain.

duct tape--better if you do it from the inside
