That E-Bay mould is a $35 item at the old Tool Guy table at the Reno Show. That seller shouldn't show his face in polite company. P.T. Barnum was right. With the excellent mouldmakers now doing business, there is no need to try salvaging such tools after paying 3x-4x their intrinsic value for the privilege of doing so.

Come on man, it’s VINTAGE!

As a guy who doesn’t collect moulds and could care less about nostalgia I just buy new moulds that work. My 313316 mould casts too small for my 32-20. I also see no need for a GC for that cartridge.

Oh, right--VINTAGE. That will answer. C'MON, MANG.

Lyman #311316 was (my belief) meant to be a modernization of #311008. It has what "008" lacks--a defined crimp groove and a gas check heel. I am sure "316" had smokeless powder and rifle usage uppermost in mind, esp. Win 92 and Marlin 94 leverguns capable of high velocity loadings and the pressures they conjure up. In such loadings, "316" features make sense. Tubular magazines skew the game a bit.

Well I cast up some 44 Lee 200 grainers today. Both bullets from Lee 2 cavity Moulds, one has had the Hollow point conversion by Eric. At the same time I poured a few in the 32 cal RD mould I got from Paul through Brad. The alloy is to soft for the 32 but should be good in the Cowboy loads for the 44 special. Thought I would cast a few of the 32's to see what they look like. The alloy is about 8 BHN. Looking for between 550 and 650 fps for the special.

The Eric's conversion dropped bullets nicely. I agree with Ben that Eric certainly does nice work. Now just need to load them and find the time to test them. Not sure if I'm going to PC or use some BLL

Nice bullets, John! Excellent looking HP. I like the RD- bullet, too. I’m considering getting a similar .311- mould from Arsenal.
