I hate to put down any brand of gun,,, especially if it's the best someone can afford.
but you have a 70-30 chance of getting one that works, and a 50-50 chance that you'll need to slick the thing up some or put some heavy loads through it to kind of wear in the parts.
for another 75$

Mossburg also makes their model 500 which is a pretty decent semi-auto too.

if your looking for something just to hunt with and it's gonna maybe be a once a year/month thing the Winchester SXP [pump] same as the 1300 can be had for about 300$
I'm still using my @30 year old 1300 in the field even though I have a new SXP, super X-2 and, super X-2 3-1/2', plus a couple of others to pick from.
it's had so many rounds through it I can't read nor get the choke out and I'm on my third stock set, but the insides are the same as come from the factory.
finding a used gun from the 70's-80's-or 90's for 300-600 or so is always a good bet.
an older rem 870 [wing master] 1100, Franchi-48, or a win 12-1300 or 120, the SKB 450 through 600 series of over unders are always good bets too.
there are still some decent guns made and some umm bargain type shotguns out there.
I personally won't touch one of the bargain type shotguns no matter if it has Remington or huglu on it, I have tried some and always found something that just drove me nuts [like the 870 magnum that shot 2' to the left at 30 yards] or I just plain out broke the thing in a couple of months.
[did you know a shotgun will fit in a flat rate box? they will,,,, and they will also ship a flat rate box to New York, Italy or Turkey]
