Sorry boys, I didn't intend to break any rules or open any wounds. I just wanted to re-inroduce myself. My my sincere apologies for any problems I caused by my dumb post. I seem to grow more stupid with age.

No problems, just a reminder on the rules so it didn't go any further than that.

Now for the important stuff . . . .

We need more of your incredible revolver photos. ASAP. :)

Charles, you hardly grow dumber with age. The times you live in have simply gone haywire.
Now, about those revolver photos. I know you have more to show. And maybe a few 1911s too?

Brad,
I think the times have gone haywire for all of us.
Each day that I live in modern American society only reinforces the fact that I was born exactly 100-years too late.

Michael.......sadly I don't think you live in America anymore, but it's getting crazy everywhere.

I also have not logged into 'the other forum' for a month or two for an identical reason to that of Charles.

Revolvers sure are nice for hunting in the rain..... well, even if you're not hunting. Say just out playing in the rain, and you want to do some plinking. Always liked cross draw holsters when it turned wet.

Very glad to have Charles back home. As far as other sites, I've found once someone figures out there is money to be made it's all down hill after that.

BTW, if anyone is looking for info and hints on how to get kicked off other sites, give me a shout, no SASE required! I've been booted from a mess of them. The one that really got me was being booted froma farm related site for using a word related to ne'er do well's and dogs of mixed breeding that I'd heard used for 40 some years. The owner of that site decided that since the "urban dictionary" said it was a bad word I was a nogoodnik! Right, farm site, urban dictionary.........

Did you even know there was an urban dictionary?

Yep, you are correct, Ian: what happens in California -- or the entire left coast, for that matter -- doesn't stay here for long, but methodically creeps Eastward.

A Christmas present from my wife was a "State of Jefferson" cap. Cool . . .

Frankenstein Colt.jpgThe only 1911, I had added recently is a parts Colt. I put together. I acquired a primo circa 1950 govt. replacement slide, that I married to a 1995 Colt frame, minus the Series 80 parts. I installed a flat main spring housing with a bottle opener (lanyard ring). A late Colt stainless barrel which I had throated was installed, with it's bushing. I have recently changed out the sights for a new set of King Hardball, I had laying about. The main spring was changed to 19 lbs and the recoil spring is a Wolfe 16.5 V. The internals were polished up. It is a noble basic handgun, that is tight and shoots like a house afire. It has become my favorite. The grips will be either vintage Westinghouse Micarta or guyacan wood I brought back from my time in Ecuador. Thenew sights had not been installed in this pic. I tried getting by with the itty bitty sights, but my 76 year old eye made me throw in the towel.

I was impressed how a mish-mash of Colt parts made over a 60 year period could be assembled without any fitting. It was just like reassembling your pistol that you had taken down for a cleaning. The slide and frame were made 45 years apart and the parkerized finish looks like it was done on the same day. Amazing really.

"and a set of KING sights that just happened to be laying around"
no such luck at having problems like that here.. LOL.

I was thinking the same thing about how everything matched up.
50 years apart and they look like they went trough the process in the same cart.

Over the years, I have picked up lots of odds and ends on Ebay and Gunbroker, when the price was very low and I think I might have use of them someday. If I can't get stuff for 50 cents on the dollar, I don't bite. I think I payed less than $20.00 for these new King sights, some years back.

I fondly recall the good old days on Ebay when a $40 mould was something special! I got a 10 cav H+G 51 (IIRC) for about $65.00. I look these days and it's like another world.

I would speculate that there is too much money in the world anymore, but it would probably be more accurate to state that there too many credit cards in use anymore, and the availability of easy credit with low monthly payments is probably why the bidding goes so high on ebay at times. You're pretty much required to use credit for your online purchases anymore, so accountability for their actions for some people are minimal. Many people don't seem to expect to ever pay off their cards, so a slightly larger payment isn't a major part of their decision making progress.

"Just pay once a month, like you do your rent".
