I found an hour to cast some new bullets for my 358 Winchester.

Love my 35’s. Darn fine looking bullets there Brother!

I have the Lyman 200g 358011 maybe? My 35 Shoots it OK the Maxi too. But my Whelen dosent. I have a RCBS358-200 FP that everything likes! But I’m not a fan of GC because I powder coat and rarely push past 1700 FPS.
I picked up two molds last year a NOE 360-232 and a Accurate 36-270c that are good shooters in everything I have tried them in. Including the lil Maxi! My buddy even used the 270 in a maxi to take a Blk Bear last fall down in NC!
I just borrowed a MC 220-359 HP Mold. Looks a lot like the RCBS bullet. I have t loaded any but measurements say it should be good in all my guns.
Another great bullet I cannot use when powder coated is a NOE copy of the Lyman 358009 280g RN.
Drop me a PM BL if ya would like to try some too.

Lyman had the 358315 and 358318. Their profile was very similar but the 315 was around 200 grs and the 318 closer to 240-250. Both were good shooters that just needed a FN to be any better. The 358009 at 250-grs plus (depending on what particular mould you had) is a thumping SOB and will pretty much kill anything you can hit with it...including Mastodons and the odd T-Rex! Cast from old ACWW that come in around 13Bhn and running under 1900fps they are very decisive on stuff like woodchucks, snapping turtles and porkies. I took some up into the 2200 fps area and it started getting to be a lot more fun in the kick dept than I wanted for what is really just a plinking load. Pretty sure I could get it up near 2400, but how dead does a Mastodon need to be?

358315. That’s IT! RN 200g.
I was looking thru molds tonight and saw it. I have two actually, one single old Ideal and a newer Lyman 2 cav.

I think the 315 sort of turned into "the" bullet for the 35 Rem, 'specially in the pumps and autos. Not sure if it was designed for them or not, but it works. I prefer a flat nose and like the RCBS 35-200FN mo'bedda. The 318 with that long nose demands attn to run out in the loaded round. Always looked like a target bullet to me and reminded me of the 6.5 160gr RN.

Brother
that is avery nice bullet!

I have been shooting a lot of RCBS 35-200FN Plain base recently because at this time of the year our range ( up on the side of a mountain) has unpredictable winds that can drive a target shooter crazy.... the 358 Winchester fills the bill for winter weather target shooting.... but If I had my choice it would be that NOE 230 grain Ranch dog bullet

"It's the red one." My, how times have changed in the cast world. I still know squat about powder coating, but it sure makes it easy to ID which bullet you're talking about!

Nothing magical!!

It’s just powder. You create static chug in bullet thru friction swirling in plastic container. Powder sticks to charged item. Then ya bake it @ 400 for twenty minutes. In a cheap toaster oven Cool-size-shoot.
No more smoky discharges. :embarrassed:
Softer bullets can be utilized saving costly lino and allowing expansion at these lower velocities.
ZERO LEADING even from These softer bullets AND higher velocities can be utilized!

Little. NOT TO like. Just gotta be willing to move outside your comfort zone.

In Indiana you can't use, own , or make plastic coated bullets for handguns. Stupid law, but it is the law. No problem with plastic coated rifle bullets. I mostly shoot handguns, so while I find PC interesting I can't use it. My "comfort zone" is not going to jail on a gun rap!

Avoiding unpleasant interactions with law enforcement is good policy Keith. I don’t have the $ to become a test case.

Any well informed cop knows that handloaded PC handgun bullets aren't armor piercing terrorist ammo. The Law in Indiana is a legacy law from the '70s(?) or whenever one of the major ammo companies offered some sort of teflon coated armor piercing LE ammo that got out to the public and caused some problems. I think the law may even have an exception for nylon coated ammo ("Nyclads") but PC isn't nylon.

The closest local indoor range has posted rules citing Indiana law and they enforce the law by refusing service, they just won't let you shoot it there.
