I think I was insulated at the range today.

I was at the range with couple of my 03's.
One of the young Black Gun guys started a conversation with me.
He made a comment and I asked him just how old he thought I was.
His reply, " I really do not have anyway of knowing because I don't have access to carbon dating equipment".
All I could do was chuckle.:)

Many many many moons ago when I was 33 and stations on the Saginaw Bay a young fresh out of Boot Camp 18 year old told me I was older than dirt. 30 years later I wonder if he sees things the same way, lol doubt he does.

62.... I have "seen the light" several times on my journey from my early 20's to where I am now.

What I get a big kick out of is that they think they know everything ,just like I did at those ages.

But we know better don'r we !

I would have told him that if he's real lucky one day he will be the same age I am now.

Just could not think of anything at the time.
Seems like the only statement I can back up these days is "Been there, done that".
I really do enjoy their company, brings me back and is good for some laughs.

I'm 52. A friend and coworker is retiring February 1. He's a few years older than me. When we first worked together I was 21 and he was 24. We recently had a conversation about how we used to say how old the other guys were back then. I told him they were probably 40-45 at the time. Not old by any means. We both got a laugh out of it.

I will be 50 next month. In the last 5 years I have noticed the transition from being one of the guys to being the old guy at work. People ask if I wished I was younger, I say sure but only if I could keep the knowledge and wisdom that comes with age.

When the young guns at work realize they need help and call me to go bail em out I always tell them "Hold on boys daddy's coming"!

I've noticed bed times pretty early round here.:D

I'm betting naps are frequently had as well.:p

With our forecast temps (-8 tonight) I'd like to be insulated if I went to the range too.:(

LOL I noticed that too but didn't want to say anything cause at my age I tend to make 'em more often.

I have noticed a lack of some people online at 5:30-6am. Might be those with late bedtimes?
Damn kids

I don't have a smart phone or tablet for those reasons. Even my flip phone is a PITA.o_O

At 38 I moved from shop foreman to parts manager. From walking at least five miles a day and getting up and down constantly to driving a desk chair or counter stool. A few years ago I had to quit running altogether, used to go 30-50 miles a week and run 5 and 10Ks once or twice a month. About the same time I quit running, I quit a pack-a-day smoking habit. Looking at 41 right now and if I don't start really putting in some hours fast-walking on the treadmill I'm going to be SUPER-well insulated shortly. I haven't gained much weight through all of that, but the muscles are shriveling up and I'm up three inches in waist size. Skin is starting to get thin and my temples are grey. This is the stuff that happens to old guys, it's not supposed to happen to ME, I'm still immortal dadgummit!

Lol, just to be clear I intended no disrespect. Just poking fun. I make plenty of typos. Just the other day I intended to type hard lube & it came out nard lube, lol, oops!
I have a difficult time with folks my age or younger too. I'm certainly old for my age.
The really scary ones aren't even at the range. At 20+ years old I overheard some talking about something called "pokeymon" & could only assume they were discussing cartoons.

Only 3 reasons to be up at 5:30-6am
1. Hunting
2. Fishing
3. Someone wants to pay for my emergency services

With my work you couldn't guess when I'll be up. In the summer we work day & night to stay caught up. Every year that gets more difficult though. I'm going to have to hire & train young bucks in the coming years. Please pray for me.

A guy told me a while back that the trip from 20-40 was about the same as the trip from 40-50 and that the trip from 50-60 was about the same as 20-50 in terms of wearing down he said it also only takes about a year to get from 50-60 and somehow 18-21 was an eternity now gone in a blink.......
That bastard jinxed me ,at 38 I got knee fixed ,at 40 they cut the appendix out, now bearing down on 50 both knees hurt my gut only works right about 50% of the time and the jump from never wore glasses to bi thinking thank god for blended lenses so I don't have to admit to trigger focals.
It's funny how dim those 65 watt bulbs these days and how many 100 watt bulbs have found their way into the lamps.....
