I like to by samples of bullets like that when I find them, gives a chance to try something without buying a mold.

I have a six cavity mold of a very similar bullet to the Lee you mention, shot well in my .308 but not so much in this '06. I may need to work with it some more.

the 0-8 and the 0-6 have different throat profiles, plus the ummm interpretations various makers like to use.

I finally got back to this a little more systematically. I checked and sized 50 more, same way, Lee .311 sizer and dipped in thinned liquid alox. I really wanted to make sure that first 13 shot group wasn't a fluke and it wasn't.

I shot five ten-shot groups starting with that same 17 grains of 24400, then 11 grains of Unique, 14 grains of Bluedot, 9.5 grains of 700X and lastly 12.5 grains of Herco. There wasn't much discernible difference group wise though the POI was different for each. Looking at it closely, if anything, the Unique group was probably the tightest but had a couple of flyers still. These are someone else's bullets and a lot of them would have been rejects if it were me casting.

I now have a mold thanks to 4060MAY. Gotta find some time with good weather to cast a bunch and see what tweaking some loads will do.SO far, this is the most consistently accurate bullet I've tried in this .30-06 target rifle I've been working with.

I got a Remington. 30-06 CDL for a B-Day present about 15yrs ago. I ran about 100 patches of J-B Brite through it and headed to the range with a goodly selection of jacketed handloads. And a 20 box of what I thought was #311332 over 17grs of 2400. I apparently didn't fully change the label. #311329 seated out for My M1917.
A 50yds target showed 5rds in a dime size hole. Only load and only bullet I've ever fired in that rifle since. Can't quite get 5rds under an inch at 100yrds yet. But I'll keep trying. I got the TP too.

I didn't have real load data for this bullet, used the Lyman data for similar weights, but that 2400 load was below start point with them. No real idea of velocity, and I don't own a chrongraph. It sure seems to work, I'm guessing somewhere around 1400 FPS, does that sound like a good estimate?

Would some of you smarter than me guys look at the photo I attached in the OP. The bullet holes had that "lube star" around them, for want of a better word. The subsequent groups I shot did this too. As stated, these were dip lubed in this LLA up to about where the ogive starts and stood on their bases to dry. I was kind of concerned they might be too thinly lubed, but I'm guessing if they were leaving that star on the way through the paper, the lube must be making it to the muzzle. I haven't cleaned the rifle thoroughly since shooting any of these, just a couple of dry patches, but I am sure there is no leading, if there is, it didn't cause any degradation in accuracy for about 60 rounds.

The weather turned south here today and I had a tooth extracted yesterday, but I have 40 pounds of Lyman #2 made up that I am itching to turn into more of these, hopefully conditions will allow for that soon.

that's nothing to worry about.

once alox dries it doesn't really re-melt and become a liquid again, it is just a barrier between the bullet and the barrel.
the stuff on the target is basically powder poof rubbing off on the paper.

I was gifted a coffee can of these bullets.
After visually checking them under a magnifying light and weighing them I found them to be very well cast bullets.
They appear to be cast from WW alloy.
The shoot very well in my MN.

Good to know this one shoots well in other things. I enjoy shooting this heavy bench rifle a lot, but I'd hate to think this bullet was a one trick pony. I'll try it in some other things when I get some cast up.

I shoot the 299 sized to .311 in a ton of guns. 7.7 Jap..x54r..303.. 3006 in a number of guns. 03s. 1917s.. etc.
Its a very good bullet to say the least.
Most cases get loaded with RedDot.13grs in the 06
