Here is part of my haul from last weekend. A distant relative of my friend Andy passed away about a year ago, and his family is just getting around to going through some of his stuff before they sell the property. None of them reload so they call us to come pick up everything he had so we are slowly going through everything, putting everything back together and cleaning things up. We split the powders between us, all the powders I got were all unopened except one can of 700X, I check all the powders which were properly stored and they all appear to be good to go.

Full unopened canisters of Blue and Red Dot when I got them, passed the look and smell test, both good to go. I love the old canisters, ever if the powder had been bad. Price on the two canisters was $11.49 cents.

One unopened can of 700X and one three fourths full can of 700X. Both look fine and passed the smell test. Price on the can was $5.79 cents.

Tonight I also picked up an old Speer #11 manual as well as a complete Lee Auto Disk powder measurer, it needs some cleaning up and an extra set of Lee 38 Special and 9 mm dies. The dies have some surface rust, but a good soaking in some Evapo Rust and some fine wire brush and buffing wheel will make them like new.

red-dot and 700-X are two of my all time favorites.
i've been using 700-X in my 45 acp recently.
Been wanting to try some 700X, but nobody around here has carried any in a couple of years. The Red Dot will keep my 30-30 plinker loads going for a while, and I plan on trying the Blue Dot with my Lyman 358156 cast HP loads.

700x was always a 20g powder for me. Just worked that way I guess. Never burned a grain (that I remember) in a metallic cartridge!

Red Dot was my 12g 1 1/8 trap load. But I fluld its virtues in the 45 Colt from Ed's writings and agree its a dandy!

Love getting powders like that! I got 3# of re7 last spring from a ol timer in a gun shop 20$. The shop would not buy but they was sealed. Metal square tins. Powder was fine.

Good show Ronnie

Must be fromt he same era most of my powders date from, mid to late 70's. Kinda makes you think when you see the prices and realize at that time people were probably thinking the prices were a lot higher than they used to be!

My first can of powder was IMR-4227 for loading my 22 hornet, I remember paying $9 for it at my LGS back in 1978.

700X has become one of my all time favorites the past few years. Almost as versatile as Unique and maybe just as much. Red Dot is about the same too, though I haven't had any to load with in several years.

Data for both abounds in the Lyman cast bullet manuals, I think there is Red Dot and/or 700X for just about everything.

Well, it wasn't free, but I made a deal with a guy locally to buy a lightly used MEC 650 progressive 12 gauge press and extras which among other goodies included about 8 pounds of 700X. I still have close to a pound in the keg I've been going through and another still sealed keg. Should be good on trap loads for a while if I can keep finding primers and shot.

I have used 700X with decent results in darn near everything, I really like the stuff.
