Nice video CW! Enjoyed the workout with the Rugers.
Lol, the next video after yours was right on time too.
That’s the new regulator AEA came out with that will fit my .22 AEA challenger air rifle.

No offense to anyone, but I've never had a 22Mag that I liked.
Maybe it's me?
I had a Savage 24 with the top barrel in 22mag (bottom was 20 ga)
I had one of the AMT automag II
I had the single Six convertible.
seems like there was another one also?
I didn't like any of them.

Many just dont like cost cause they compair them to the LR they probably own and have owned for ever. They cost twice plus as much.

But offer twice plus preformance IF YOU NEED IT!!

300 Mag is a awesome thing!! But if ya shooting Dillers on the back 40.... its not needed!

So understand not every caliber fits every person!

I was never a big fan of the .22 Mag. Never had a good use for one over cheap LR and as has been said, the price compared to LR is crazy. I became a .22 Hornet nut early on so I didn't have a need for .22 MAG after that.

I always jokingly said "if I wanted to shoot a .22 Mag I would just download one of my .22 Hornets." :p

I've always thought a 22 Mag rifle/carbine would be a fine ranch/homestead rifle sort of thing - one for the "one-gun" household, but one can only have so many "one-guns." Agree 100% with @Bret4207 's classification as a "truck gun." That idea almost makes me want to get one of those now.

Compared to CF ammo, its always been "cheap," at least for the performance you get. A fella could keep a LOT of 22 Mag in a 30 cal ammo can, maybe a lifetime's supply in a 50 cal can, if it's not used as a "fun gun" for entertainment purposes.

The only 22 Mag rifle I've ever had was a sleek, light, classy, walnut-stocked 77/22. I could shoot any of my 22 LR handguns much better than that would shoot, and for what it cost, it wasn't worth investing time or money making it shoot better when there were "cheap Marlins" in 22 Mag that shot well. I never did buy that Marlin rifle.

One big draw for me was where I live. CF cartritage are NOT LEGAL on state lands. So if you hunt state lands your gonna have a Shotgun, a muzzle Loader or a Rim Fire! Id prefer that Hornet loaded up or down too. But its mot always a option.

I have a Winchester 9422M that I love. It is scary accurate with the now defunct Winchester 34gr. HP ammo. I purchased the rifle because Michigan used to limit night time coyote hunting to shotguns or rimfire only. It has done yeoman's duty on groundhogs and squirrels as well (head shots only if you want anything left to eat). I have 4-500 rounds of the discontinued Winchester stuff on hand. I don't shoot or hunt with it often these days. I wish I would have bought one in 22LR too.
It is fiddly to take down completely but I made a muzzle protector out of Delrin that makes cleaning the barrel easier while minimizing muzzle wear.

My first hand gun and 22 Magnum was a Ruger 9 1/2 inch Single Six. I played with the magnum cylinder some but not a whole lot. The 22 L.R. was quite a bit cheaper and just as effective out of the handgun. Like Intel6c the Hornet cartridge made more sense to me in rifles over the 22 Magnum. No centerfire prohibitions in Montana. The 22 Magnum used to come with actual jacketed bullets now I'm not exactly sure what's available. It's the better rimfire coyote round out to 125 yards or so. On squirrel or rabbit, it seems a bit to destructive if dinner was the intention. Oddly enough I still have a pair of CZ 452 rifles in 22 Magnum but it's been a while since they were shot. There's quite a bit more smack to the 22 Magnum with gophers than the 22 long rifle rounds. But less than the 5mm Remington Rimfire.

I had similar results Rick! I dearly miss those Winchester 34g loads!!! Winchester has not had a good run of late and this loading is a shining example of whats possible as it flat shot very well in most of my rifles! I was lucky to have bought a few if the 200 packs they offered and closely guard my limited supply.
I remember a story in a magazine where the author pulled some of these bullets to load into his hornet. With great success too IIRC.

I dont have a 9422 but a couple Henrys (that are very close to same) Both are very good slick and accurate shooters for me with peep sights.

Thanks 35!!

At the casting bench in the sky. RIP Bret.
A Henry close to a 9422?!!!! Come on man! Them's fighin' words! Some of my biggest "shouldas" are that I shoulda bought the 9422 in LR and Mag when available and the 94 in 25/35 and 38-55 too!
