I never did figure out how to retrieve my photos, but finally found them on a back up flash drive.
Then had to delete them from photo bucket one at a time!

Does post 24 above help?

We used to pay for "satellite" TV so we could get the programming we actually wanted to watch, without adverts. The market got competitive as more sats went up, and the throat-cutting started. Next thing you know there is 21 minutes of program and 39 minutes of laxative and anti-depressant commercials in 60 minutes. Then the subscription rates nearly doubled. We cut the cord and told them to shove it, and instead by bargain box-set DVDs of things we want to watch like NOVA, a sitcom or two, Dick Van Dyke show, DesiLu stuff, etc.

Backup is bigger than a single copy of something, if you want to keep it for lifetime.

IMO, really important photos need to be professionally printed out and framed and put on the wall,
although they will fade with time, too.

Hardware, software, compatibility, actual media failures, lots of ways to lose your stuff.

I have some photos in the bucket, that are not saved anywhere else, due to a laptop crash last year.
I am using copy and paste, one photo at a time, to recover mine from the Bucket.
I'm only recovering the ones I really want. I don't login, I just access my chunk of the bucket as a guest, there is seemingly less adware interfering if I'm not logged in, but it still does interfere somewhat, after I recover about 20 photos, the bucket locks up. I exit and try to reenter as a guest...it doesn't always work, I suspect it has something to do with how busy their servers are?

I've recovered about 100 photos so far, about 1000 to go.
I believe us non-paying users have til Dec 31 2018 to recover our photos...if the bucket lasts that long?

I won an iPad last year and found that it can be a challenge getting pics resized. Ironic that something so convenient to use is so complicated to use.

I use a free app on my iPad called simple resize. Works well and it was used to resize almost every photo I post here.

Looks like Simple Resizer is not IOS (Apple) compatible according to CNET Downloads. Also cannot find it in the iTunes App Store. Any other sugesstions?

Hmmm... I searched like you did and found it, but won’t load because I’m on IOS 11.2.1 and it’s not supported yet.
Thanks anyway.

You must have a newer iPad, mine is still on 10.3.3

Almost any of the free resize apps would work. Just change the pixel count and see how the image looks on the forum.

Sorry, email jumped me in on this again and I didn't realize it was only iPad related.

I'm with fiver, no way my photos are going to be stored on someone else's systems far away. I just
do not trust them not to delete them, intentionally or accidentally.

If you are getting pics back with a phone or tablet, no idea, but with Windows computer,
once the picture is displayed, right click and select "Save image as" - and click on the
image. It will pop a window letting you browse to any location on your computer to put
it into a file.

If your only online connection is with a phone, good luck. IMO, phones are for calling and
a little bit of simple stuff. Once you try to do very much the extreme limitations of their
OS come into clear focus.

I'm still EXTREMELY averse to "cloud computing". I keep my stuff under my control, period. I don't want a non-existent connection to keep me from doing what I need to do. My son is a professional programmer and thinks I'm a troglodyte. Good for him, he works at a job with an extremely fast connection. I have distant memories of 300 baud phone modems and more recent memories of the 'net crashing. (I also do not use MyLinkedInFaceSpaceBookPlace or any other social media other than this and one other forum, but that's another story.)

I'm right there with you, Keith, and I have been a system manager and user on some of the
biggest computers in existence at the time. I do not trust any remote storage, end of discussion.
As to the online social scene - this is it for me.

No kiddin. I have a flip phone for a reason. It only goes with me when I am on the road in case of an emergency. I haven't even given the number to anyone, it doesn't do text messages and ain't for flappin my gums. I do have a face book account but only because I have a daughter, every person listed on my FB "friends" list is either family or someone that I actually know in person. The very last thing an internet "friend" could possibly be is a friend.

Man that's hard Rick! No wonder I like you!

I also have a 'flip phone' for emergencies. With my wife still recovering I take it even if I go to town (12 miles). My real friends:rolleyes: work on me to do text. I tell them I have (and they have my) email address. Write me a one-liner along with your stupid acronyms on email for a text!
